GL always has this way of making one laugh and breaking that same heart in the next moment. There has never been anything as excellent at character driven storytelling and crafting.

I've been watching Anna Stuart playing the sweet Toni Ferra Powers on The Doctors, and she is so unique playing the scheming Vanessa which led her to play Donna on Another World. One of the writers of Guiding Light was Nancy Franklin who played her mother Barbara Ferra on The Doctors. Nancy just passed away recently.

Yes, that's Anna Stuart, who went on to play AW's "Donna Love". She was temporarily replacing Maeve Kincaid as "Vanessa Chamberlain" here on GL at the time, while Kincaid was on maternity leave.

It was a major error on the producers part to write out Diane Ballard from the show. While the storyline of her murder was great, it would have been much better had they kept her in and had her fight w/Alan and Amanda to take over Spauling w/the evidence she had against Alan w/regards to Moreno.

Those were the days. Best years of GL along with 1984-89 with the whole Lewises, Kyle and Sally, Maeve and Reva and Alexandra and India.

The writers should have placed Diane in a coma and they could have still had Carrie go through her trials. It would have been so much better! Marland missed big time with this.
