At this price point, I see myself grabbing a baritone as my next acquisition.

Finally.. the chime of a 12 string without the hassle. The 8 falls perfectly in line for my solo performances. I normally would play a 12 string w only 8 baritone strings installed, doesn't look right on stage. Thanks again Guild, and R.I.P Richie Haven's

I finished my first 6 string acoustic baritone build a few weeks ago. Absolutely love the sound. Just bent the sides and glued in the blocks for an 8 string baritone . Can’t wait to hear the voice. Anticipation is a good thing. Lol.

I love these guitars man! I play 2-steps down from DACGCE using the BT-258E 8 string version, such a beautifully crisp, deep and haunting tone! It's hands down the best acoustic guitar I have ever owned. One thing that stood out to me (other then the amazing sound) is that the guitar holds it's tune extremely well. I usually always check my tuning before I play, but after being on this guitar for a while I noticed it hardly ever gets even the slightest out, even after playing heavy percussive fingerstyle.

Wonderful!!! What if I bought the 258 8-string and I had my fun with it, but then I want to try a 6 string baritone…, does the string spacing allow me to just take off the two extra strings and just change things up a little every now and then? That would be great!

I don’t play at standard baritone B tuning, but do tune down a full step to DGCFAD. So, string tensions are too loose for my aggressive strumming on a 25.5’ scale. Will buy the 6 string and put 59-14 on the 27” scale,(baritone strings are 70-16). This will bring the string pull up where I need it. Beautiful sounding guitar, and always wanted a jumbo.

If i had this guitar i’d play in A Standard since i also use D Standard and it would make a good sound
@tite933 жыл бұрын
Baritone guitar for D standard is a bit excessive, I'd just go for heavier strings. Baritone is for B and lower, I believe
@jed11663 жыл бұрын
@@tite93 #1. I already use EJ 18 heavy strings, 59-14, on a 25.5” scale, and string tension is too low...#2. it is only a Baritone if you tune to B.... So, for my purposes, it is a long scale Jumbo tuned to D. I have an Ovation 28” D-Scale that does what I want, which is D tuning with proper string tension. However, I don’t like the feel / tone of playing a plastic back guitar. I have a string pull calculator, and 59-14 heavies tuned to D on a 27” scale is virtually the same pull as 56-13 mediums tuned E standard on a 25.5” scale. Should be perfect! Thanks for the suggestion!

@blee36212 жыл бұрын
I think it would be great to accompany a normal 6 string. It adds the bass and is likely played in a different position. Add a bass or piano to the picture and it will be tricky.

re the origin question below, I have just bought a westerly 12 string deluxe. It is a lovely instrument but the neck and bridge were coasted with some kind of dark polish which just came straight off onmy fingers - after stripping down and cleaning then reoiling the boartd with Dunlop 65 oil it plays fine. BUT despite originally being told by the dealer that he "thought" the guitar was made in the US, I finally found - deep inside the instrument, on the heel of the neck in tiny letters - "Made in China". The woods are great, bone nut and bridge, the finish to die for, probably the nicest sunburst I have owned - the inlays MoP and great, why can't Guild just be upfront ? The large soundhole label proclaims "designed in California"... but being so coy about the manufacturing country is a silly and petty semi-concealment.....C'mon guys....Incidentally I would highly recommend the guitar and am very happy with it.My other acoustics include Martin Takamine, Simon and Patrick and Taylor so I do know a little about this stuff...
@mandoprince13 жыл бұрын
Easy way to tell the US and Chinese acoustics apart.Just look at the headstock. If it has a truss rod cover it's American, if it doesn't, it's Chinese!
@therealsparkman3 жыл бұрын
I had a Guild 12 string (GAD) several years back, but have since sold it. I'm very sorry now after the fact that I did part with it. It was a beautiful instrument in every way, with such great sound, and IT was made in China. Otherwise, if it had have been made in the US, then there would be no way that I could afford it. The cost would have been triple. While I always want to support North American products, sometimes it's just not in the cards because of price point. And you are right! They are never up front when you are looking for the place of origin. You have to snoop around until you find that stamp. More and more companies are producing more of the lower to middle end guitars from overseas and making the high end guitars in North America. Otherwise sales would be down.
