The spear is worth getting. Assuming you already bought everything which gives gold and are only left with unlimited coin bags at 35 AA each, 1000 AAs will buy you 28.5 gold. It costs 43 gold to craft ascending spear if you have Weaponsmith 500. So its a good deal. Plus you get cool skin and ascending gloves. Changing stats if you need to will cost additional ~5 gold + 10 spirit shards. Thank you TMW for another stellar guide!

I didn’t realize when I did this that the spear skin changes with the infusion in the meteor glove you also get with this so that just makes it that much more awesome 😊

@@TiffyMissWiffy You can salvage the infusion and put it on any glove you like, too. That means you're not stuck with the glove if you don't like it. BONUS 🥰

I enjoyed the short quest (with your help) and getting an ascended weapon this was all well worth it. I wouldnt like it all the time it would just be another thing to keep up with.

I think it's worth it for the Quest. Not only do you get a spear you also get an ascended pair of gloves. Which might be worth it for those who don't have legendary armor and weapons yet.

In case anyone did not try this, take the Heat Core Infusion out of the Meteor Gloves and throw it in the Spear and watch it light up when equiped! The Icing on the cake! Err...TIP of the SPEAR! haha! The Infusion is WELL worth the 1k AA! Note: You can purchase more Heat Core Infusions at the Festival Vendors in LA but they are 100g & 50 Ectos ~ 115g worth of value for the free one you get from the gloves!

Cool. But as much as I'd like the achievement, it's so cheap to make the Leg Spear (with the Wizard's Vault Leg kit). I made one a couple of months ago, sold it just after JW released, and bought the kit. Made another spear and have over 1800g left over :)

Great video. Personally, I don't think one ascended weapon is worth 1000 AA **and** a questline. I grabbed an ascended spear for my alt today, and it was 500 Magnetite Shards, super cheap. The ascended weapon box from the WV is only 600 AA, reasonable. So 1000 AA seems incredibly disproportionate, especially because you have to pay that, and then do work. Having said that, I am still gonna do it for the skin. I always end up running out of things to spend my AA on by the end of the cycle, so I usually just get the gold for like 2 months. But this time, I will get a skin, so overall I think it's a good change. I just think it would be better if it were priced at 500 AA. I don't see a problem with them releasing quests that you have to buy with ingame currency. We already pay money to unlock expansions, so if anything, using IGC to unlock more content feels GOOD. Better to pull out my ingame wallet than my real one.

You might have realized by now that with this spear questline, you get a free ascended glove and an infusion as well. So, I think its worth more than 1000 AA to be honest.

I have since clued in. It’s really an ascended weapon with a cool skin and an ascended hand piece with an infusion in it that changes how the spear looks. Pretty awesome

Or you can just choose the "Ascended Weapon Chest" for 600 from the Wizard's Vault rewards or from any other source for ascended weapons and then take the ascended spear for land combat, then you at least have this spear ascended with all freely selectable attribute combinations. Sometimes you get them as a reward for completely other different things in the game. Sorry, but 1000 for basically just a simple ascended spear is a waste for me. I would choose something much more useful as a reward from the Wizard`s Vault. But ok, everyone has to decide that for themselves and yes, you then of course forgo the ascended gloves with their special infusion. By the way, if the design of these special gloves bothers you, as I often hear and read, you can easily adjust this with a Transmutation Charge.

@@TiffyMissWiffy In my case, this has nothing to do with the appearance of this spear - I could adapt or change that quickly - but rather with the fact that I would have to invest a lot just only for an ascended spear with fixed stats. ArenaNet could have done this better imo.

I later found out this achievement also drops an infusion that changes the spear skin when equipped which is pretty sweet but I do like when achievements have AP

Considering you can get an ascended weapon for 600 astral coins, 1000 (or probably more if you can't play frequently and you would claim it later when this rotation is over) AND a quest seems a little bit too much, I would prefer this type of quests unrelated to the astral rewards, just introduce them but make them unlock by simply talking to an npc when we want, even after few seasons. I haven't had time to play much so I still have to do it, but I'm not sure it would be a priority for me (I still have to properly test if I like spear gameplay with all my characters). That said, I love when there's a good story behind a reward, I had so much fun while working to get Chuka and Champawat, so if it's not just another simple annoying fetch quest, I'd like to see more of this.

Worst waste of time ever. I can only hope they allow us to remake it since we can't redo the quest, and the stats are set to solders so its not working with other builds. I got it on my Necro and then realized its stats where not Celestial thus not real compatible with my build and now I have no light armor toons that can use it making it a dust collecting book end.

if the stats are wrong for you, you should be able to change them like you do for any ascended wpn or armour with the wrong stats

5 ectos + exotic inscription of desired stat + tome from mystic forge attendant + ascended weapon you want to change. (Beware any upgrade items on the item will be destroyed in the process so extract them first) I swapped my spear to vipers stats to test out the spear/spear condi herald build.
