I don't comment alot on the videos but I just want to tell you folks how much I appreciate all the content you have put out and are still putting out. I also love how real yall are. This is your life and your story and I am so glad that you do not let others make you feel like you have to conform (or apologize) to what they think your life should be or what you do. Keep, keeping it real!

The first brand of ICF that I ever saw, just a few years ago, was Fox Blocks. I was fascinated by the whole concept. I also stumbled across some KZbin videos, more recently, showing ICF construction, including some people doing the work themselves. Different brands were being used, and I was wondering if there was any advantage to one brand over another. We are tentatively planning to build our own house (more accurately, have one built to our design) but, for some reason, despite finding ICF construction interesting and advantageous and watching videos of others doing the same, it hadn't occurred to me to use ICF until watching the first of your videos in which you mentioned them. I don't know why I'd not made the obvious connection, but thanks for turning the light bulb on. I'll be watching carefully and closely. So far, you've given the best descriptions and explanations of various aspects, including the common seam. Excellent clear and complete presentation (as always), and I am enjoying watching your progress - but probably nowhere nearly as much as you guys are.

As levels get done , it give you a certain " uforia" even though it is not a finished house , it has this effect. When the forms are done, when the concrete is done, when the floor, the walls, roof... It is a great feeling as it goes on. I is nice to see a HOME BUILT "HOME" .

Good choice using Fox Blocks. We’ve done two home builds using them. One suggestion I’d make is to drive a 3/4” ridged conduit down the entire height in the hole in the corners as well as putting 1/2” OSB sheathing on the corners extending a couple feet along the wall in both directions. They say you don’t need it but we had a blow out on the bottom of a corner while vibrating it (9’ x 8” wall). Also the wire clamps are very inexpensive so use extra. Cheers!
@garyhoe4665 жыл бұрын
Or maybe it’s a 1” hole on the corner blocks. I can’t remember which it is but by pounding a ridged conduit down the entire height it greatly strengthens the wall

This was our original plan -- to build our homestead with ICF's and a timber frame on top of that -- but the 'great recession' forced us to go with a 'frost protected shallow foundation' (freeze-proof slab). We will follow your progress as we still want to do this for our wood shop. I'll bet things have changed greatly since we researched this in like 2007! Looks like you guys will be building out in the cold for awhile! I'm still working on an addition in the cold and it's no fun! I have to read every label to see if it's warm enough for glues, spray foam, etc. Good luck and stay warm!

Just love this video, you can see actual progress. That's the thing about building, lots of ground work on footings, drains and general prep, but it doesn't seem that you're achieving much because there is little visible progress. Then boom, in 2 days it's looking like a house. Hope the temp and weather holds till you finish pouring. Good luck 👍

Wow! I have never seen this form style. We had the conventional forms done in 2016 in N.H. 1,000 sq.ft. walk-in cellar with 8 ' height. We are "just" interior painting our home now. Too difficult for us to manage the cathedral ceiling by ourselves, so a local professional painter is helping us. So pleased to see your progress before winter!
