i never played a card game / d&d what game would you recommend?

It really depends on the type of games or genres you enjoy in general. MTG is a fantasy based setting, as is D&D. I highly recommend both. A lot of people really enjoy Pokemon and Yugioh card games (but I've never tried them). There's card games for just about anything you could possibly like. As for TTRPGs, besides D&D, there's Call of Cthulhu, Warhammer, and more. Again, depending on the type of games you like, you'd definitely be able to find a game of this kind that you like. :)
