I have no idea how you can make that hurdy gurdy sound the way you do. It's awesome, Guilhem. After I run through all the bagpipes tunes I want to write I am going to look into this instrument. Not wanting to compete. Not at all. But the raw sound before you add effects is excellent as it is. Bravo, sir! You are quite a creative musician!

I'd been kicking around the idea of an electric gurdy for a few years, and when I found this video a while back, I was disappointed at first thag someone else beat me to it. But then again, I was also excited to see what they did with it! And Guilhem didn't disappoint. I'm still not convinced his is set up the way I've been thinking to do electric gurdies, and I think my idea could revolutionize the hurdy gurdy into being far more accessible for beginners and experimental musicians.

Recently discovered you. And damn glad I did. I grew up with Donovan’s Hurdy Gurdy Man and only ever knew kinda what it was. But then I only had an Encyclopedia. I’m blown away with you (and a couple of your contemporaries) and that confounded machine of yours. I don’t know how it would have worked on an 8-track but damn, there’s daze 😉 in the early 70’s I wish I had it sitting between my Pink Floyd and Yes cartridges. BTW, I had an RCA quadraphonic deck in a 73 Nova hatchback with home speakers in the rear. That 70’s Show. Lived it. Loved it.

Jordan Chaput - his head seems to incorporate the counterpoint, subdivision, and phrasing of all the parts. He’s feeling the actual music, not the emptiness of a 4 on the floor “beat”. Watching him I can see and hear his focus and the interplay between the parts.
