I see a lot of comments on the difficulty of these pieces. These are intermediate electric guitar solo's, but that doesn't mean that every intermediate guitar player can play them. I consider myself a professional player, but a lot of these solo's I don't master (yet), but that is because until now I have mostly focused on classical guitar, folk, fingerstyle and pop/singersongwriter stuff. It's hard to obtain an advanced level in every style. Guitar is so versatile, but that is also what makes it so great and gives you a lifetime of opportunities to learn and explore!

it depends on how your rating g them. Intermediate maybe as far as understanding how they are put together and the scales--but most of these require a great deal of feel that I wouldn't see most "intermediate players having

I see myself as an intermediate rock player and I think I could learn most of the solos if I gave them enough time. A lot of classical stuff that you might play would probably be much harder for me. I used to play folk fingerstyle but that was long time ago so I struggle with songs I use to play with ease.

@IChIDH 18 күн бұрын
@@stf259 I agree. I've been playing about 4 years now, started using a pick about a year and a half ago and i consider myself at the beginning stages of intermediate. I could play most of these songs but and i understand a lot of how they're put together, but just saying I could play it doesn't mean it's going to sound even close to how it should. I noticed several parts that while I could play the notes at the right speed, I don't quite have the control and sustain of every note yet.

Ive been playing guitar for 16 years. I still dont know the majority of these and some of them i probably might not ever learn or master. this is definitely more or less advanced playing for sure. we need not to label virtuoso play as hard, its in a different realm of its self. EVH, steve vai, Joe Sat, Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Goven, Tosin Abasi, any talented metal band, Blues virtuoso's, Bluegrass the list goes on etc. many different Genres & many different ways too play. hard is hard, theres a good chance this guy can rip some of those guys solos, so the definition changes. with that being said killer video & we all appreciate it!

I think you need to use 3 fingers on the left hand to beef up the strength on your bend. You are usually using the middle finger, with the help of the 1st finger, and maybe you do that because you fingers are so long, and you just need the space, and don't want to get all tangled up. But the bends are not as stable as they should be or could be. If you could use 3 fingers and still not get tangled up with those big hands, you could gain strength and stability, and then that will give you a platform to be more expressive. Also, try to leave the last note very quickly, like explode off that note to move quickly to the next position on the neck, and arrive early, and restabilize your hand, and get your hand into the perfect position, and then push up with 3 fingers on the bend. Those are my 2 secrets, but I am left handed playing right handed, so I have all the advantage, but I am not as big as you, so I need all that advantage. Those are my secret tricks. Leave early, arrive early, restabilize, get into the perfect hand position to do the bend before you have to do it, so when you do make the bend, it will be as perfect as possible. You make your money in between the last note of the last position, and the first note of the next position. ...that is, during the travel time, when your move your hand. You have to explicitly explode off that last note, and fly to the next note as fast as you can, then stop cold, restabilize, get your hand in perfect position, and then do the bend. It is like 4 things you have to do before you make the bend, but if you do them, you will have better bends every time. Even being left handed, playing right handed, the most important thing to me is that I am ready to do the bend. I need to be in the right place to do that.

Great video, many great solos in one place with tabs. Subbed and saved to work on them later. As stated by many, intermediate is really subjective. Sometimes a small piece of so called beginner solo can be painful because of odd timing and out of tune bendings. Overally, because of rather slow tempos I call most of these intermediate but for me it is all about playing those bends in tune. Even if you can play absurdly fast and call yourself advanced, a tiny bending mistake can ruin everything you play.

TL;DR: This is intermediate, no advanced techniques or high tempo are used. I see some people disagreeing about this being intermediate, so let me explain a bit without calling you bad (like some probably did in the comments). First of all, to get this out of the way, none of this really is for beginners, attempting to learn these solos as a beginner, when your technique isn't yet quite developed, could be detrimental in the long run, walk before you can run. Some solos use a lot of bending, some have intricacies in rythm, learning them could lead to picking up bad habits. Nothing wrong with being on the beginner skill level, you already have some skills! I think the most important thing to take note of is that intermediate players should get these solos down WITH PRACTICE. That means breaking the solo down, learning the notes, understanding the rythm, the phrasing, the dynamics, the techniques, practicing it slowly first, then putting it all together. These are solos that you should have the required skillset for and be able to learn with practice, not solos you are supposed to nail easily. I think the most "controversial" picks are Crazy train and Final countown. Yes, they are pretty tough and by far the most difficult in this video for most people, but still well within the realms of intermediate level. Crazy train features a lot of tapping and somewhat brisk lines. However, that's tapping just one fret with the right hand and that phrase is all about timing and while tapping potentially could be seen as a more advanced technique, this is entry level of it. Same goes for the trills. The legato run might seem intimidating at first, but it's just the most basic 3-note-per-string scale run and only hammer ons, which for an intermediate should be learnable with practice. Plus some pentatonic licks which most intermediates are already well familiar with. Final countdown comes with some sweep picking with pull-offs, but again, this the easiest exhibit of it, being played only on 2 strings. However, these two definitely are in the upper-intermediate level already. (for the record, the most difficult song I'd still say is top-intermediate level is Far beyond the sun by Malmsteen) Now why this isn't advanced quite yet. People at an advanced level and better can learn a lot of these in just a few sessions, many can probably even sight read it or learn in one sitting, all without getting stuck on anything and definitely not needing to improve at a certain technique to be able to play it. None of these solos use advanced techniques such as fast string skipping, difficult picking patterns, complex rythms, sweep picking, fast alternate picking, two-finger tapping, tap sliding or swift legato sequences. What they do use are techniques intermediate players should be of a solid level at, like bends, simple legato, basic tapping, two-string sweeps, trills, vibrato, slides, double stops, palm muting and such. With that being said, keep practicing and you'll get there over time! If you're intermediate or advanced already, great! Good luck.

Paranoid would’ve been a good choice to add here, that was the first solo I’ve learned. As a beginner I didn’t have much difficulty, now I’m entering the end stages of beginner and have a ton of solos under my belt.

Great video. Ok kids, what do the most difficult solos here ALL have in common? You should pay attention to this. They all have picked arpeggios/triads. Picked, none of that sweep picking crap. He is putting them under intermediate because picked arpeggios are easy, but difficult to execute properly. They will declare war on your beginner and intermediate pinky fingers and win if you don't fight and push through the intense soreness. 😂 The other techniques, bending and vibrato here are also difficult to get correctly, but easy to learn. Your hands will learn those quickly. Not the picked arpeggios.

Such a shame that guitar based music is dying a slow death. Some of my all time favourite songs right there. Beautiful.

I have good news for you, its not dying at all, it just doesn't get endorsed by the industry is all. There are so many crazy good bands and guitarists are out there. Check out Tosin Abasi of Animals as Leaders, Misha Mansoor of Periphery, Tim Henson and Scott LePage from Polyphia, Reba Meyers from Code Orange and many more. Though I agree, they probably do not earn as much as they would if they were out there during the times when industry was milking the guitar music.
