about 2 degrees right and 3 degrees down to set the thrust properly. YOu did a great job if that was nonocote that you used. I claim to be the first guy to ever cover a stick and tissue type freeflight with monocoat. It was known as a Thunderbird back in 1962. LOL

20+ years ago I made many of this Gillows planes. You did a fantastic job with the plastic covering. I want to get back into them but the dope you need for the paper coverings is almost impossible to get here now.

Tip - Use little bits of fishing line inserted into both sides of a control surface for very durable, yet super flexible. Make the holes a few mm deep on each side with a sewing needle or very small drill bit. A drop of CA glue wicks into hole and holds well.

Thanks. I have put a list of the components I used to convert it to rc in the description. However If you can try and find a slightly heavier motor because with the motor I am currently using it is powerful enough but it is too light and even with ESC and battery right at the front its still needs a bit more weight at the front. Maybe a motor which is around 15g will be better.

If the power is right but the weight is light, i would try to add some weight by using modeling clay in the nose plastic. Fantastic job on the engineering and craftsmanship. I'm building my second kit myself. Guillow #402 p-51. I hope mine looks as clean as yours. I'm attempting rc also.

That would work. I just think if your going to add more weight in the nose is better to add a slightly heavier motor rather than weight which does nothing (if that makes sense). Also Thank you. It was my first attempt at a balsa plane. There are some very rough edges on it and there was quite a lot of trial and error.

that's awesome! the covering is really good for you first time. The covering on my first guillows looked like crap! I am currently working on an aeronca myself and this video was a great help. I love the access thing by the way

1 quick thing I've found out. use more than 2 screws to hold the cowling in place. I've crashed mine recently and the plastic is a little brittle so the cowling has cracked where the screws hold the cowling.

I don't see why you couldn't. You will just need to use a smaller propeller which may affect how quickly the plane accelerates and slow speed flying

+Nathan Shepherd No. The dihedral is already built in to the plans. You would have to adjust the plans to get the dihedral out.

+trystyn clark 5:40 talks about the hinges. I got them from a model shop and the plastic stuff was very stiff and caused stress on the servo. The other hinges I used were very small nylon hinges.

Can you tell me how you charge the battery?

+That Christian Channel At 2:00 I talk about the battery and battery compartment. I use a 300mah 2 cell Lipo and I charge the battery using a LiPo charger. Of course I remove the battery from the plane before I charge it. If your still unshore there are many good videos on how to safely charge a LiPo battery on KZbin

+That Christian Channel kzbin.info/www/bejne/oafVXmVrrqyYjM0 . This is probably the best and most informative video about charging LiPo batteries. It uses a simple LiPO charger from HobbyKing called the Accucel-6. However you do need to get a power cable separately.
