Nice job on that. Flies nice as well. I've been building stick and tissue for over 50 years now. I still build them, very slowly, but they just hang from the ceiling now. Haven't flown one in over 20 years.
@pctrashtalk20695 жыл бұрын
I used to build them. They were fragile so they didn't last long. I put a Cox .010 on one once. It went in circles and ended up in a ditch full of water.

I'm going online right now to see if I can get my hands on one of these kits! You set the bar high on the covering and build. Will take all my building experience just to come close. Thanks for posting great content!

Wow, that is one of the best flights that I have ever seen of a Guillow's model! They usually over engineer them and in my experience were poor performers, but fun to build and the look aesthetically pleasing. Well done!

I am extremely impressed. I’ve build scores of Guillows kits, balanced them, and made them very light, but none ever flew well at all. A big part is I mostly made fighters which were inherently dynamically unstable designs with horrible glide ratios, whereas the Cessna is about as stable a design as could exist. The best I did was with the WW I biplanes which glided well. I could launch them from my grandma’s roof, and they’d glide straight in a very shallow dive about 50’. Very, very impressive.

I built this kit back around 2001-2002, and it was one of the best scale rubber powered planes I ever built. As far as the best flyer of all though, I'd have to give that title to The Javelin - which is easy to build too. Great job on this one! 👍

Wow. What a awesome plane. Great job. That has got to be the best looking and flying rubber model I have ever seen. I can never get my rubber powered models to fly for more than like 30 seconds. Again great job!!👍👍

Loved it. It seemed to turn as if radio controlled. Also quite accurate to the real thing.

Nowadays there are electronics that can actually fit inside these little planes - enough for a motor, elevator, rudder, probably even ailerons! But yes this is definitely a free flight. Really well-built too!

I've got one of these I started building almost two years ago, with the intent of building it into micro RC control, it's almost done except for covering. I haven't decided on tissue and hand laid dope, or the new iron on stuff. My first was a Storch I built 46 years ago, and put a Cox peewee in her.

It's videos like this that draw me to free flight models. It just looks right. Especially scale models. Rc never looks right, unless the models are huge. It also covers up for poor building. The building of free flight models is part artistry, part science, part skill. You create something with your own hands but let it fly on its own.

Keith I used Microlite on my RC conversion and it pulled the stringers in on the fuselage. It flies good as RC except the cabin and wings were not strong enough and I ripped the wings off. It has been fixed.

Beautiful Plane,Build,and Flight.Watch out for them thermals.I lost many models to them,but they were hand launched gliders, and one rubber power P-30 class competition model on a low power test maiden flight.The last time i seen it flying over the St Clair river into Canada from Marine City Michigan! Did not light the dethermalizer.

+edward hasiak I made a scale size styro-foam butterfly glider that had paper thin wings. A lemon migrant butterfly, about 2'' wingspan, all yellow, done with a felt pen. I tried it out and it flew away on me (the first chuck). Like I let it go. lol

WarScribe, The tube is called a blast tube and is used to prevent tearing up the fuselage if the motor breaks while winding. A length of music wire with hooks on each end is used between the motor and winder to allow removing the tube once the motor is wound.
@mickcarson85045 жыл бұрын
Nice. Does the prop shaft have bearing? I used to build small (2-4 feet wingspan) gliders in my days back in late 70's for my then g/f two brothers so they understood aerodynamics and free flight. I still occasionally build models, planes, gliders, boats and yachts. Most are radio controlled, while others are just for display.
