you know, having multiple active games in the same franchise would also solve a particular problem: character representation. what i mean by that is: if your franchise has a lot of characters (like, more than 20-30), eventually, players will want to see them all represented in the game. the problem is that having too many characters is detrimental to the gameplay: too many matchups to learn, and characters losing uniqueness. however, if you have multiple active games in the franchise, you can collectively have all the characters be playable, but also keep the character count in each individual game down to a reasonable number.

Animation pipeline for Guilty Gear is still a 2D oriented one- animating each keyframe by hand. Which means, if you want skins, *you practically have to start all over again from scratch.* A skin for a character might be $15-20 instead of the usual $5-8 range because of this. Street Fighter has the luxury of swapping models, ArcSys does not :(. It might be different from the XRD days though, because from what I remember Granblue vs. had weapon cosmetics.

Arcsys never intended on reviving old titles, they happened because a team of programmers did it in their free time and it attracted arcsys attention, that was the case for +r and bbcf at least idk about bbtag Also Xrd is a 3D game while those are 2D, from what I heard adding rollback to 3d games is harder, and I believe it since Mortal Kombat X's rollback took 8 months to develop and a lot of money I'd play the shit out of xrd if it was playable online, but I hardly doubt it has any chance to happen

you should really get into +R and also +R Rollback was a massive undertaking, and is apparently nothing compared to the effort required for Xrd rollback. the way the game is coded makes it super difficult. it's not impossible, but a massive reason as to why we should probably just accept the delay netcode or move onto +R.

It'll get rollback late in Strive's life cycle. Strive was a departure from Xrd on purpose. They aren't going to give it an update that would encourage people to play it instead of Strive.

While I don't think Xrd is the best game in the series, that goes to #Reload imo, it sure needs some love. I did invest like 400 hours into Xrd Leo suffering through delay based netcode so that's something I guess. Like it's very rare for me to spend that much time on a single fighting game and I enjoyed my time with it.

I would LOVE Xrd to have rollback. If Xrd gets rollback I will never play any other game ever. BUT, the games coded like spaghetti and would be a huge undertaking. Injecting rollback to old 2D sprite based games is hard enough, injecting it into 3D models games is even harder. Xrd would be EVEN harder than that. Plus nobody in the community is actively working on it, like there were for ACR or BB, which would mean even more work for ArcSys.

Tbf is pretty hard to port rb to xrd ,As developer xrd is special case xrd is 3d game there's no key frame to help game to judge so....due to this rb base netcode need design for it from beginning (in most case i mean). BBCF and acpr can do it thanks to they are 2d sprites key frame is more easy to modify. But Tbh im still hope arc can do a rb update to xrd , xrd is the only game i can play endless.

@@third-ratedude4234 you are right , that's why i said xrd is special case , the different between xrd and bbcf is how to perform keyframe , bbcf perform it by change sprite , but in xrd the model is not changing , they perform a funtion, in other word they kill 3d by make model do strange angle. But like i said before (in most case) maybe xrd is same as other 2d fighter they change entire 3d model , due to developer speech last week, the tornado move faust did just changing Faust model for only one move. And i just share my experience, maybe it work fine.

I see where you're coming from but the main reason why BlazBlue and +R got rollback is because there were fans actively working on modding rollback into the game at some point. At no point has someone been working on adding Rollback for Xrd so Arc Sys would probably be more hesitant to jump the gun on adding Rollback to a game they no longer support.

Wistful Hopes (who has done a lot of strive mods) got save states working in XRD. That's the first step towards rollback. People ARE actively working on it. :D

The only time when I think delay is better than rollback is for extremely bad connection because with delay yes inputs will be delayed by a second but with rollback everyone teleports around the stage
