The amount of times I've played with my battle buddy where we both said something along the lines of, "WHAT! YOU CAN DO THAT!?" is way higher than when I fight some random online. And the fact that I can say to them, "Ayo, do that move again let me see if it works." really cements a friendship.

I think the best part of this is that even if you don’t want a training partner, it cements the idea that fighting games are better with friends and a community, and how it can just be cool and fun and fulfilling to game with the bros (and sistas. They exist, probably).

I consider this the main reason I find it hard to really stick with a fighting game. In my 26 years of life I met like one person who also liked fighting games and I also never found any kind of community where I live.

Hardest part Social anxiety and being the only fighting game kid in and of all my friends 😑 But i do love this video and its very insightful and true! A lot of people don't realize how much of an importance it is to have your battle buddy or buddies depending on the games Good stuff man! Actually found you from Alex Nostalgia recent video and started going through your backlog Glad to find more fighting game creators 🤘

I think netcode is super important here as well and it's why more games should be encouraged to have strong online play. Training partners become much more possible for people who don't have local opportunities. also the fake out at the end where u invited people to the discord was rly sweet ♥️

Great vid, I agree with you greatly, I also think that it's better to play with a new player or a player similar to you in skill level you can learn a lot from them and they can learn a lot from you and you can grow alongside each other which means things never get old.

I have a friend who is miles better than me and has a lot of experience in different games while I'm a total noob. When we play I kinda feel bad sucking so much because I feel like I'm wasting his time giving boring battles. I'm sure he doesn't feel that way but this feeling makes me strive to become better. He is like my end goal, my role model if I can say it, so I train and play hoping that someday I'll be as good as him and have some fun matches.

You know it's funny you started the video with and AC beacuse I started learning the game with a partner since strive doesn't have crossplay and I feel like I've lernt a lot more than if I would go on and play ranked. I main Slayer and feel like I can acually do links consistently and got the timing down for FRCs, while he learned to react better since AC is much faster than Strive.
