Same, that's why I can't lance cysts myself at home. It's uncomfortable to have your skin pinched like that, even if it is 100% necessary I couldn't do it. That's why we have vets lol.

This happened to my guinea bear, bear...he passed last week in my arms, not from the bite but something else. The vet said nothing was wrong and he was supposed to go to the specialist the following day about an hour and a half away...but he didn't make it through the night..He started seizing. All I could think was " we need Saskia here in Georgia"..I've been a mess ever since and my other piggies are SO lost. They are all my babies. Bear Bear was SO special 😭

She's like "Lady, when does the GOOD in this new life start?!" I bet she felt better after she settled again, that must have been causing pressure and pain. One of my pigs has a large cyst that's on her leg which needs to be lanced. I'm not comfortable doing it but that's why I love my cavy savvy vet. She's a lumpy pig, she has a couple of small lipomas too (they haven't changed size in 2 years since I first found them). The cyst is now big enough that it's starting to bother her.

Can someone help me? I took my guinea pig to get treated for an abscess under the chin and was put on antibiotics and they gave me liquid to flush the nasty stuff out… I finished all the medicine so I let her wound heal, but it grew back 2/3 weeks later and today it bursted and it smells awful and is a bit small. What can I do to treat her at home? The earliest appointment they have is until Monday and that’s too far from now so I need help in the meantime. Thank you

Yesterday at the vet an abcess was discovered at the back of our Guinea Pig, They cleaned it, hebben het uitgespoeld en de pus is eruit. The cage has been disinfected but must we do something with the skin as wel? You mention a certain product, in our country there is a Cream from that brand and a foam disinfectant for kids that I can order? She is often in the same house with the male and maybe hè nipped her, They have 3 houses. Hope you have some advise. Thank you for the video,

Hi Saskia. I noticed that my male guinea pigs right eye looks different. I'm always giving my pigs regular physical checks so I can catch any abnormalities on time to treat. I have every product that you have listed on medical from Amazon in case of emergency but I had never had a cause to use any. Now Im frozen and don't know what to do. His bottom eye lid is slightly dropping exposing the white of his eye. The eye doesn't seem irritated and he isn't pawing it. Should I act and treat with antibiotics or is it a dietary problem. He is a big eater and is up for anything as long as food is involved He is my first and oldest Guinea pig. Will be four in October.

Yes it is a betadine/water mixture to clean the wound of any germs.

I understand snakes need to eat too, but I've heard from people that own snakes that, besides the issue of live feeding being horribly inhumane (for both animals- snakes have been known to be killed by their would-be prey that fought back), that domestic pet trade-line guinea pigs actually make really bad snake food and are setting your snakes up to be malnourished (there's a reason cuys were bred the way they were for human consumption... not that I would ever think about eating one... *shudder*). And for god's sake, if you're going to breed feeder animals, at least take care of them properly (but guinea pigs should never ever be feeder animals 😭😭😭😭 poor babies)!!! On a happier note... lol saskia, I have that exact same box of gloves right now!!!

Hi Saskia! I just got my first guinea pig 3 weeks ago today. I have been making progress bonding with her, but I’m a little nervous about her health. She will sneeze occasionally, but I think that’s normal. She is very energetic and wheeks a lot, but she’s always in this hunched position when she’s not running and shakes (imagine a dog shaking off when they’re wet) at least 5 times a day. Is this normal?
