that poor darling girl. My Owen (profile pic) survived a month-long battle with pneumonia back in 2016. He tried I think 3 different antibiotics before finally azithromycin did the trick. His vet had me use a small nebulizer near him nonstop and he stayed in a box on my bed next to me 24/7 the whole month (I am bedbound). I had to perform a technique called coupage to help dislodge airway blockages when he got really bad. Critical care every 4 hours, 6x a day. It was a massive struggle and he had a very strong bond with me and cooperated beautifully throughout the whole ordeal. Without his vet and the tireless efforts of all 5 of my family members, I know he would not have made it. Pneumonia is so incredibly difficult to beat. I wish that precious girl all the best.

"14 days to bring it up to code" is way too long.... animals could and do die in shorter time. Scotty, I think Im a few days late in saying, Happy Birthday. It’s sad but it’s good that people can help. Without it their lives would decline health or worse. Molly is very sweet. Obviously the original group wasn’t a rescue really either b/c no real rescue would ever sell their animals along with the lease of the shop. It is so unethical! And then to call you and expect you to step in and clean up their mess! What is happening with the rest of the animals? Did the fish even survive that type of neglect? Was there other rescues able to step in for the other animals or did they go with animal control? I have recently ( the last year or so) started taking in exotic rescues after a lifetime of rescuing cats and dogs whenever I could or at least offering some help with some health care( I was a vet assistant for 20 years). But the exotic pet world is a whole different ball of wax! So many of these animals have had 5+ homes, often in only 2-3 years of life and it can be so damaging. My hedgehog is so traumatized that even after a year of working with her she is still terrified. Luckily I am fine with her being that way and have found her a cage that gives her more protection from the world as well as extra safe and secure and comfy hides. She did not even have a name after 5 previous homes. I now have 5 sugar glider, with 3 more I have committed to taking on, and several of those, were just handed off to me with no names, no instructions, and no supplies or if they had supplies, they were completely unsafe and inappropriate for gliders. It takes 5 mins online to find what they need and what is safe and what isn’t! My chinchillas had never been fed hay in the first 5 years of their life and it should have been the main component of their diet! They were owned by a kid and no parent spent any time looking online b/c they also had the cage outfitted with plastic trays, toys, and hides, all in various states of being eaten b/c chinchillas will eat plastic and it is toxic! Their wheel was a wire mesh, deadly for little feet! Sorry, rant over! The original ‘rescue’ owner should be ashamed of theirselves! If you have to quit rescue I understand and so will other people involved in rescue. If they had put out a plea for help I’m sure they could have found placement for their rescue animals but instead they sold them like they were just a product. It was unethical and when they found out it had all gone badly, that was when they expected other rescues to step in and help. The rescue community is small but mighty if you play by the rules- put the animals welfare as the priority. This was an utter failure by this ‘rescue’ and they don’t have a right to even call themselves by that name anymore.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through all the bad actors. So elated that you have a nebulizer for Molly. I (as a former Respiratory Therapist) would like to know the medicine in the nebulizer. My animal hospital became a VCA and the charges for care went through the roof. They are good with exotics but wow the cost. I went to another clinic. I was lucky in that I found a brand new in the box nebulizer at the Goodwill. Just need to order the solution from Amazon to add to my emergency kit. Glad you got them and they are safe.

I get they need money to live on, but animals suffering so they can make a quick buck is infuriating! To just not care enough to provide basic necessities for the animals is lower than low. I've fallen in love with Molly. She's such a sweet angel. So are the first two those little guys omg everyone is so cute. I just want to shower them all with my love and support. Thank you again Scotty for doing videos like these and rescues like these. Edit: I just want to say, this brought back memories of me with my gecko. I completely understand. I took him to the vet, fed him medicine with a syringe like that one just smaller of course, everything. He sadly passed away about 7 years ago now. This family friend was moving and had to get rid of her geckos, and I think one of her rabbits if not both of them. She said she got him for around eighty bucks but gave him to me for free cause it was my birthday. She seemed too eager to get rid of him though, so I should've saw that as a sign. Then again, I'm not sure if it was a sign since he didn't pass until about four or so years after. Maybe five, it's been awhile. Point being is I can relate. Especially with my most recent boy who also passed a few days away from a year ago, now. Sadly, this was before I learned about how bad pet stores are. We've come to the conclusion that he was ill upon adoption. Both of my babies were taken care of me to the best of my abilities and let me tell you, that's a lot. Like you I go to any length for my animals. I even walked over an hour in the snow just to get food for my animal when no other shops had any left. Literally NONE. There was a shortage in my town and even those surrounding. I don't drive so I either have to walk or pay for a ride. I broke down crying by the way, during that snowstorm because after walking for an hour to another city, they too were out. I tried calling beforehand but no one would answer the phone and they're normally always stocked up. Family ran, knows me well, etc. Sorry for such a long comment just the video had me sentimental.

This shit is heartbreaking. I worked for a filthy-rich family, and they did this to their dogs, fish, snakes and bearded dragon. I was able to rescue some of the animals, but I was arrested for theft. The animals hadn’t been fed in 2 months!! Animals are considered property, so officials didn’t care about the animals. So effing sad!!!

Sometimes adding a little lasik will help pull out some of the fluid in their lungs. It's an old school remedy and I can verify it works for breathing in guinea pigs.

I know better, and I worked in cat rescue for several years, and 40 years as a clerk in a pet SUPPLY store that did not sell animals. I've had a variety of animals over the years, all rescues. But I went into a PetSmart just to look around, and saw two little boars huddling in a plastic cubicle by themselves -- no hidey, nothing to play with, just two guinea pigs in a plastic cube. I couldn't stand it and bought them both as my first guinea pigs. One had an infection, and just finished up his antibiotics from the vet, then some Benebac to build up the gut flora. I am watching everything I can find on guinea pig care on the Web. I want to give these little guys a better life.

The pop up play pen is an amazing idea, so useful for emergency situations like these! I can't imagine how hard it is to keep calm throughout dealing with such heartless people.
