Usually it's best to take guinea pigs to vets for exotic pets (who treat pets such as spiders, snakes, etc) instead of the regular ones for dogs and cats. Saskia does great work, but she gets things wrong sometimes too.
@thelizfamilyvlogs618725 күн бұрын
@oberscharfuhrer8917 OH trust me. They need vets. They have teeth that grow. Vet has to trim their teeth. They get sick. You have to give them special food from the vets. They need antibiotics when they are sick too. Guinea pigs have to have surgery sometimes. They are not like hamsters. They are even considered livestock. They are herd animals who love to eat grass when they are outside.
@katieakin93972 жыл бұрын
It’s sad that the bar is so low but let’s appreciate when people take piggies where they think they’ll get taken care of instead of killing them or throwing them in a dumpster as we’ve heard about. Obviously they shouldn’t have signed up for the commitment in the first place but it is the adult thing to do, to admit you’re not capable and give them to someone who is. Cowards wouldn’t try to come up with a solution.
@cass74482 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd rather people didn't make a habit of shaming people for this. The important thing is that the pigs get the care they need, and piling onto the former owners will just encourage even worse outcomes.
@gingerbends52162 жыл бұрын
Yah they are actually being pretty mature and that they are actually doing the best for the pigs
@oberscharfuhrer89172 жыл бұрын
guinea pigs are high maintainance for a useless rodent that was made for food
@lavishlyvice Жыл бұрын
They're not being mature at all. If you have to give up your pet, give it to actual people and don't dump it on their front door. The animals can die due to unexpected weather conditions, stress, starvation/dehydration, an illness not being treated soon enough. They've already had guinea pigs freeze to death and die of heatstroke because someone dumped them like this. It's cowardly no matter how you try and twist it.

Well they're not free to keep and if people are on hard times i think feeding you're or family would come above caring for any pet. and its better they took them to somewhere they'd be loved rather than just letting them die somewhere isn't it? The writing of the note looked like a kid wrote it, so it could have been a case of a parent who couldn't or wouldn't buy food for them, or maybe the family was made homeless, but an adult shouldn't make a child just dump their pets, no matter what the situation is. It breaks a child's heart. Thank you for taking them in.
@oliviastreich137410 ай бұрын
I second this comment, parents are sometimes the problem and kids want to care for their pets. My mom hid my pet rats because I wanted to see my dad and they ended up passing because she put them in a small cat carrier in a dark basement and all she had to say was “you should have just said you’d stay the night” and has never apologized. I wish I could have just given them to a shelter.

@katsu95822 жыл бұрын
wouldnt have been any better since this carrier wasnt standing on a higher spot and it rained that night the towel would have just be wet and the piggies would be wet too. atleast if u dump piggies they should be on a higher position or under a roof, would make it less dramatic and shaming, even if its not right to drop them in the middle of the night. This Person was probably scared of getting shittalked if he/she went to a zoo or somewhere else.

This happens too often. The last guinea pig dumped on her property died from it being freezing cold out that night. Still makes me sad when I think about it.m I wish she'd either have camera on the property or a night time volunteer who can at the very least take the pig into safety if Saskia has anyone she trust and is willing to volunteer the graveyard shift.
@elena-ri6pq2 жыл бұрын
@@ITIsFunnyDamnIT it surprised me because i live in a really small poor country, and you would expect americans could take better care of animals that one time gave them a spark of joy, there really is no excuse to kill an animal like that considering the money they make, im so disappointed
@Roeseii7 ай бұрын
@@elena-ri6pq sadly, animals to some people are a "toy" and they'll buy them for their kids as a "present" and then abandon the animal when the kid doesn't take care of it and they get sick of it. Sometimes people hoard, sometimes they fall on times where they can't care for the animal and need to think about themself and their family, some, they just don't care. Fish are actually the most abused because everyone thinks you can put them in small bowls, feed them, and they'll be fine, but like every animal there's so much more they need. It's disappointing like you said, and more people/households need to be banned from owning pets if they do horrible things like this. And if they neglect and hurt animals, who knows how their children are living

When saskia say dont do this i think then :don't buy animals! for all the ones who are not able to care of them. That's a thing what should known before to buy some and not after. But i think the most people who's watching this are responsible owner who would never do something like that. And who does should pay a lot of money for the rescue or shelter where the animals was found or have to help there out to see what they have done and what kind of human they are. Without this people the Shelters and rescues wouldn't be so full and the poor animals would have a lovely home

How do people do this. I don’t understand how people just leave their pigs in a carrier with no warmth, not food, no water. Let alone just leave them somewhere hoping someone does something when it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to make sure at the bare minimum they are taken to a shelter if they need to be surrendered immediately. If it’s possible there are great websites like pet finder or guinea pig adoption sites. There are so many options and this should not be one of them. I’m just so glad that you guys found these boys and are educating the piggie community with each video.

I feel like something has to be done or this will NOT STOP🛑 But what do I know, maybe there just is no solution. I just HATE the thought of another pig dying from the cold and sitting in a filthy cage. Is there nothing at all you can do about this. If you have someone you can trust to guard your property at night at least take in a guinea pig dump when it happens or something. I just don't want to see another pig die like that poor one that froze to death. This is also very sad seeing the condition the pig was in.🐹🐹

I understand you wanting a camera, but cameras are deterrents against people entering the property if they seen one in the first place. What happens if someone who wants to give up their piggies sees the camera, and doesn't want to be identified but has no other choice but to place the guinea pigs into better care? Some might just leave and abandon them somewhere where they'll die for sure, or kill them themselves. Yes they've arrived in bad conditions, yes some have not survived, but isn't the guarantee of knowing Izzy will get them care better than never knowing where the piggies end up?
