Love me some Alice in Chains :) I was certain this was a Layne song, so hearing you say it could be a Jerry riff quickly made me question the nature of my reality (Westworld, anyone?). Knowing that I would never be able to sleep again without clarity on this matter, I went to check my copy of their "Music Bank" box set which features Angry Chair and liner notes written by Jerry for each song. I thought I would share my findings :) Of Angry Chair, he says: "... here is a fine example of him stepping up with the guitar and writing a masterpiece", and "I'm very proud of Layne for writing it." Anywho, great lesson as always regardless of what you call your fingers :)
@RyanLendt5 жыл бұрын
assistant madam secretary sloth! I should have read the ownership with which layne was playing that riff in the unplugged video as it being a layne song! Full disclosure, i know next to nothing about alice in chains. Your input is greatly appreciated, and now I have about twice as much to go on when making guesses like this. Thank you friend!

Apropos of nothing much at all, I also discovered that Would? was intented both as a tribute song to Andy Wood, and as a middle finger (or "long finger" as we call it here in Denmark) to those who were quick to pass judgement on Andy's lifestyle.

What an awesome tutorial! I don't know theory,, at least as versed language, but I got it. The subject song just came back to me last night as I recalled the chorus being my original draw to the band. That melody and hook is just such a stroke of genius. I was SO close piecing it all together, in bed, sans guitar, but it had to get up and tonight I would KZbin it. Yours was the first that came up. I shan't look any further. Sure, a pro player wouldn't need it, but you laid it out in a manner and speed where (just about) anyone could grasp and further themselves from it. Kudos. You, Sir, are a teacher.

Hi Ryan, finally I decide to request these nice nice songs: - Theory of a deadman bad girlfriend solo - Dishwalla Above the wreckage solo - Foo Fighters Have a cigar chords and solo - The Virginmarys Just a Ride (acoustic version) in my opinion the slow version sounds better, much harmonius but if you teach us the fast one would be cool as well And the list goes on and on haha. No one has shown how to play these ones before, so I take my number on the line, thanks in advance!

really these are not represented on youtube? I find it strange that there isn't SOMEBODY out there who has done basically every single song ever. Oh well, hence our effort here :) Thank you for the great requests OZHKAR!

Hey Ryan, can you do Got Me Wrong and Sludge Factory from the AIC Unplugged album? I know the opening riff to both, but I can't catch on to all of the rest.. Btw, I'm still waiting for you to do AIC Died, lol.. I still cannot learn that whole song after a few more times of giving it a go here and there, by watching that 1 other guys video.. Either I'm slow, you're a good teacher, or maybe both lol. I would still like to come jam with you one day, I wanted to email you and talk but I don't remember your email man. I'm an hour away from you, if you remember me saying. Anyway, thank you for this video Ryan, Angry Chair is one of only about 6 or 8 songs that I can play through entirely(except for the solo, idk any solos really except for Floyd The Barber tbh). Thanks again man.

Oh, also a song I just heard yesterday for the first time that I'm really liking, if you could add it to your list please. Chris Cornell - Ferry Boat #3. I'm intrigued by it mostly because of Chris's voice, but also cuz it sounds like Stone or Mike on guitar and it sounds a bit Pearl Jammy lol.
