It always amazes me how such a simple chord progression can produce such a melodic and powerful song in the right hands and state of mind.

By far my favourite song of theirs! I've known how to play it for years, but it was nice to revisit it for a different perspective. Thanks for taking me back my man :)

Your method of teaching resonates with me. I just discovered your channel recently when I was attempting to play the nuances from the song My Favorite Mistake which seems easy but it takes some time to master. With respect to this wonderful song by Blind Mellon, I appreciate how you keep it simple. If you can offer some chords on the screen so, I do not have to manually write them down, I would appreciate it. Thank you again!

I consider any Blind Melon for me too ...😆 how I love them.... am pumped for this documentary... Danny Clinch (pearl jam photographer), has been working on this project a long time. I always assumed they were from Seattle too, but I was wrong about that. Same spirit of the PNW bands. Ohhh Ryan unleash your inner 🐝 Bee Girl.... !

Another great one, thank you! Shannon was such a killer young artist, Blind Melon was going huge places before the tragedy. This song is a bit heartbreaking given his fate vs the meaning. So sad, RIP Shannon

Would you be able to do “Pull” by blind melon but the acoustic version? Theres an acoustic version here on youtube of just Shannon Hoon playing guitar and singing the song. I’ve always liked the version but its not on any release. Anyways, great video as always. I just found your channel the other day and you give lessons on all my favorite bands!!

I would definitely be able to do Pull by Blind Melon :) Thank you for the request George, and for being here!

I believe I learned to tune crazy like Kim and Chris and play the day I tried to live a while ago from your video. I just learned change by Blind Mellon in like a few minutes mainly causr you are a excellent teacher. It'd Be awesome if I could sing like Shannon Hoon now probably won't happen luckily I'm primarily a drummer playing bands like helmet, deaftones, Soundgarden, sepultura, mainly original. If you ever play anything by helmet Queens of the stone age that'd be nice!!

For the Change playlist you could add Chris Cornell’s Can’t Change Me, and (this one’s debatable) Beck’s Lost Cause, because it’s from the album Sea Change. Btw, would you consider doing a video sometime on how to choose guitar strings. Do some strings go better with certain guitars, some for certain songs, what are the trade-offs between light and heavy gauges? If you’ve already gone over this just point me to the video ;)
@RyanLendt5 жыл бұрын
no I have not! thanks for the question bob :) short answer: different string materials sound different, more evident on an acoustic than an electric. I like 80/20 bronze because they are brighter than phosphor bronze strings to my ear... which wouldn't be a plus for everyone, but it is for me. for acoustics, i shell out and get elixirs. expensive but worth every damn penny. they feel like heaven. for electrics I use GHS boomers, because in like 2000 i read that Ed uses them, and now my ears have molded to their sound. I really do feel like they sound the best to me, but it might be the power of suggestion. Gauge is a feel thing. there are umpteen combinations and you could go dizzy thinking about it and trying all the options, but I just use 9's or 10's and don't put too much thought into how thick the low E string is. lighter gauge = janglier and easier to bend. heavier gauge = thicker sound and harder on your fingers.

I never really knew this song. Now I do, woohoo. That rhymes. I couldn't find you ever doing Push Me, Pull Me by Pearl Jam, is that right, Ryan? I was listening to the live version from Berlin 2010 today, and that just kicks ass, much more than the studio version if you ask me. And the Mike riff in verse 2 is killer. So have you ever done that song? :)
