I just want to say thank you for your tutorials! I've broken my left arm and I've had surgery there a couple times a few years back and playing guitar has really helped strengthen those muscles. I also find it very cool that you are a christian, because so am I! I hope to make christian music one day! God bless you!

The barre F#m chord is hard because of your fingers, what you need to do is put your index finger higher then a normal chord and then lay your pinky over your index for support, move your index finger higher then normal :)

I´ve just started playing one week ago and I must say you´re an excellent teacher! The tabs help a lot too, especially with memorizing & practicing where the fingers go time and again ;). And I do appreciate your "how to play this chord in an easier way"- section (having rather small hands and short fingers, some of the more difficult ones really suck).Thanks a lot! One tiny ;) request: could you put up a tutorial of "Brother Let Me Be Your Shelter"? (if you haven´t already and I just haven´t found it yet)
@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr28234 жыл бұрын
Small hands/short fingers aren't really that big a deal. Look for the little man who played Rachmanioff. Wael Farouk. It was a Chicago Tribune article. Rach was a huge guy, well over 6 feet. Huge hands. Very difficult compositions. If you get curious, look for a doc called "Cliburn." It's about a piano contest of a guy Van Cliburn. When the girl said she was going to do Rach's 3rd piano concerto, I said, "There goes the winner..." and what I know about classical would fill the tip of a pin and still have room for a 1955 Caddy. Wael wasn't listening to people tell him he couldn't do it. Mind you, he can barely reach the pedals.

You dont have to worry about the middle finger if you use it to muse the low E string. It is pretty effective.

I'm ten years late to the party, but actually there are 6 chords in each key: three major ones and their relative minors. So here, A, D & E, but also F#m, Bm & C#m. Learn to understand the Circle of Fifths and you'll see why.

Use a thick song book called "Guitar Chord Songbook White Pages" I use it a lot and I'm a drummer. Be careful of books that shove everything into the wrong key to "make it easy." Just pick songs with fewer chords. Look into country. In fact, this is one of the only song books that stuck with me and I've probably bought all of them. Achy Breaky Heart is an A and an E. All my exes live in Texas is a few, but mostly A and E. You'll use the Bm a lot so work on it. Work on adding new ones like Bm and C.

Lol. Yeah. NO, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Sorry. It might take you that long to hold the chords cleanly, much less be able to switch them up.

how do you play the 7 in the key of A? (wrote a song with a friend on keys, tried avoiding the 7, but it kinda snuck in there... I'm pretty sure its actually a 5/7), but what is the 7 (G#dim right?) and or how would you play this without using a capo and playing in G? Thanks!

What do you exactly mean with ‘chords in the key of A’?
@billytyner64 Жыл бұрын
There's no way that I can or could put my 3 fingers inside the fret simply because my hands and fingers are too big. I tried and tried but it wasn't possible. For the players such as myself who have this issue is to use the index finger on the 4th string and bar the 2nd and 3rd stings with the middle finger. It sounds the same and is basically the same thing just a different way of playing the A chord. Thanks

Sir,you should start video with playing aedf#m together, with any strumming pattern, instead of explaining chords everytime,so that we could play and practice chords in combination, with you,at least for five minutes. Thanx. Pl keep in mind that a beginner who already knows chords well in advance,wants to learn and play chords in combination.
@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr28234 жыл бұрын
I think this is really a beginner's video. If it were any more slightly advanced, he'd just be able to say A, to E to D and people would already know. If you want an easy song, use A to E for Achy Breaky Heart. That's the whole song.

Nice video, but that F#m chord is way off base. The notes for the F#m chord should be F#, A, and C#. With leaving the bottom two strings open, you are adding an E and a B, which make it a completely different chord (something like F#m7sus4 ish?)
