@@RyanLendt no problem man. I kinda do it for myself but it helps everyone else out too. I have to do it for songs that have several riffs and/or no pattern that is easily memorized. So I just master one section at a time and then play through the whole thing along with the song. I've learned a lot of songs from your videos man and I appreciate you. You're really good at explaining things and teaching beginners.

I would like you to know that I thought your explanation of that Am7 flat5 with an E flat in the base (?!) in the chorus is like the most entertaining AND informative thing I've ever seen. I loved the way you walked us through and reconstructed it from the ground up.... for lack of a better metaphor. I feel like I just watched like a short, well directed documentary. About one chord. It's a helluva chord though! Anyway,it was a lot of information, but you conveyed it extremely well. And concisely. It was a journey, that chord was!

This tutorial is definitely worth a 👍 This song is a tricky song, the studio version had Alain Johannes playing the guitar parts, there are some very sophisticated chords in this song and most of the KZbin tutors don't get it right. I use some different fingerings in a couple of spots but essentially get the same notes. I think it's irresponsible to post a tutorial if you're going to lead your students down the wrong path. Ryan, I just want to say, you're doing a good job! 👍👍

This was great, beautiful work deciphering it! I want to learn this for July 20th! Even though in the live version Chris drops D, with what you are doing, I don't see a good reason to drop D. In the live versions Chris also takes advantage of some drop D power chords too that I don't hear in the recorded version. I like what you did, but life is a bit easier keeping standard E tuning! Cheers Ryan. Oh I subbed, you did great job explaining everything and efficiently.

Just learning some CC songs lately. You video was super helpful. One thing I can't figure out, is why this is in drop D. Could be played in standard right? I guess any D chord wouldn't have the very low D to add depth. But otherwise, it helps with F# and E chords to be in standard. Buy why question the master, Mr CC was genius.

I think I'm gonna take the big dive and try to do a 3 track acoustic instrumental recording of this song (one of them being the vocal part). You pretty much nailed the solo acoustic version, and I'm very happy that Chris played it this way... but it's like the only song I've ever seen him do solo that I really felt was lacking. There's just something about the original version that you can't capture with one guy and a guitar. Especially the outro. Lotsa' cheating has to happen to make that work solo. It's a tough song.

This is one of the better (best) versions that I've come across. Although for the life of me I can't understand why anyone does this in Drop D. All the notes are accessible in standard tuning and the F#m sounds much better as a standard bar chord form. In any case, really good stuff - thanks for the post!

Glad you enjoyed that Ramses :) I had a skink named Ramses. I mean, as far as the drop D goes, I guess it just makes those arpeggios more convenient, and doesn't he hit the low D once in there? it's been a while since I made this video...

@@RyanLendt That's Ramses II ! As opposed to Ramses I. He was a real prick (LOL). Anyhow, I make out pretty well in the standard tuning. There are a lot of transcriptions out there for this one and I'm not sure what most of those guys are hearing when they play some of the chords they've transcribed. The chords you have on this vid sound spot on. Although I'd like more on the outtro, as well.
