Gotta say that to have Matt back doing this service for us is inspirational. Guitar moves was a staple of my learning guitar as a high schooler and now, as a twenty-something who listens to GBV and Slint thanks to this guy, returning to this earnest love of music is something I’m very thankful for.

@ the 12:24 mark throws out Johnny Winter’ name which mad respect for that! I’m 40 and even guys my age and definitely younger never say Johnny’s name or Rory’s name. Probably why for the most part rock guitar is dead, and if there is a damn good rock band of young people they will always reference those two guys.

Theory is imported to learn. Learning the relative minor opens up a lot of freedom in soloing. Gives you a lot of opportunities to explore the entire fretboard. All 5 positions of the pentatonic scales gives you a lot of flexibility to explore the neck. Thanks for sharing I have seen Marcus King a couple times and he is amazing.
