I’m happy and grateful that this young Man played the Anthem the way it should be played. I personally don’t care to hear it reinvented. Yes I’ve heard Jimmy do it , I’ve heard it done by others trying to replicate that version too. Just my opinion and we know how those are, but it always sounded like Jimmy and the others were trying to screw a pig or cat. That was their ver. Not the ver. of it. Play it like it’s supposed to be played or don’t play it. As I said just an opinion. This young Man did an outstanding job.
@spell_joe3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it, and I tend to prefer a straight/mostly straight version as well. Jimi was the only one that pulled it off doing it the way he did it.

Having been in a military Honor Guard and performed colors for the anthem, I gotta say that one would be tricky. It's masterful, but he Honor Guard would have a hard time listening for cues at the ending. Seriously, which note was the last one?

Nice! I'm about to pay a version soon too and encorporating power chords/octaves. For the part around 2:43, are you doing those octaves on the low E or A string? And I'm guessing the last 2 power chords of that riff were the open A string power chord and G# powerchord? Was hard for me to hear.
@spell_joe2 жыл бұрын
Hey sorry for the extremely late reply but it was essentially an Asus2 and then a little E major third on the d and g strings. You could also do an Asus2 or Esus4 to the big open E major, which was kinda what I was trying to suggest. Just play an E major and put your pinky on the second fret G string to make Esus4.

I have 3 electrics and 1 acoustic that I haven’t ever used on KZbin. The one in this video is my main/favorite one and also my first electric guitar. It’s called a Les Paul, that’s the model name or the name for the body shape/style if that helps. If you look at my other videos, you’ll see a black one and more recently a blue one. Those are my other two.

The tone was very clean. The tone from your playing, not the equipment. The equipment is fine. Maybe another word is intonation. Or better yet, it sounds as if you are feeling the song. Ive listened to performances from famous guitarists and I think a word to describe their performances is pitchy. It is as if they learned the song the night before. I am shocked at much better your performance is. A good one to check out is Carlos Santana with his son. Very clean, smooth and arranged great. I won't name any not good performances because maybe you like the bad ones. I'm going to guess you recognize pitchy sounds, though.
