Wow that could very well be my dads guitar. He bought a D28 when he was stationed in Japan. (USAF) Of course he brought it home. It had the stamp. I may not even exist if he wouldn't have had his ol' Martin. He was playing it at a park in Gardenia and a crowd began to gather. My mom was in the crowd and caught Pop's eye. So thanks Martin & Co. I owe you my life. Lol. Sadly, Dad sold in 77 for like $200. :-(

I have a 1957 D-28, in museum quality. Martin factory looked it over a few years ago. Was originally owned and played in concerts by Ola Belle Reed on the folks / bluegrass circuit in Eastern PA + Maryland + Sunset park and all the spots.

When I play new guitars I often like mahogany better than rosewood. When I listen to vintage guitars I like rosewood better. Maybe rosewood takes a really long time to sound its best? New it just sounds a bit too dark to me.
