Jimi wanted the whole world to hear his music and would have encour- aged free posting of it on youtube and other sites. I have that same exact guitar, but I believe it's a 1980? I bought it used about 24 years ago when I was a teen from the American Music store in Bellevue, WA. I don't know anything about the history of the guitar before I purchased it, but it's a really road worn guitar. Somebody had switched out the original tuners for Grovers, it needed a new fret job, and Idk if the previous owner(s) smoked heavily or it was left out in direct sunlight a lot because in the right lighting it's a dark green. Kinda wish I had an idea of what it's worth, even though I have no intention of ever letting it go and it's going to be passed down to my boys if they want it.

Markus I’d like to know W. T. F. the copyright holders of these 50 yr old tunes think they are “preventing” by making an issue out of KZbin clips. I guess it never occurred to Jimi’s (or whomever’s) estate that maybe- just maybe- a whole new generation of record-buyers could possibly go out and purchase some ‘stuff’ by the dearly departed. But not if they never get to hear any of it. This music is 50 yrs old. If today was 1972 we’d be talking about music from Al Jolson and Scott Joplin. WAKE UP PEOPLE.
@larrygeetar93096 жыл бұрын
It's not "people," it's Janey Hendrix. We all agree with you. Jimi Hendrix would have been more than happy to share every bit of his music with the world at large. And he would never have allowed most of the crappy posthumous recordings released. He had too much pride in his music for that. The more recent releases from the past few years are much better than previous junk, mainly because there has been a lot of thought put in to them. Plus, Eddie Kramer has most of the creative license. He was Jimi's man in the studio.
@GerardWaysHun206 жыл бұрын
I dont understand this either. The only artists I can think of that have their music totally scrubbed from KZbin is Hendrix & Prince. It seems like who's ever in control of their estates went against the common advice of their own lawyers. The brand of the artist is more than just the music. I mean Jimi posters, artwork, figurines, clothes, guitars..wasnt there even a marijuana brand in the works?
@Tensen016 жыл бұрын
At least with Prince it was actually his idea. The Hendrix thing is just flat out greed.

I heard they sound like a teli lol i have had mine sense 1980 and I’ve never thought that i will say mine has a very bright sound on the bridge pickup and it will slice through any rhythm section I’ve tried to play lead onto ! It will go very heavy and it will clean up like a bell ! I will never sell it it plays like a caddy when i need a smooth easy player that the guitar i grab ! So if anyone is thinking about buying one you probably want be let down if its set up right and we all know thats for all guitars

@douglasfrazier28566 жыл бұрын
Definitely a high-class rock 'n' roll monster - though the mini-humbuckers are not as smooth in tone as PAFs or even P90s, they've got a metallic quality to them - which admittedly, works very well for STP and other heavy heavy monster sounds
@jimistheman97325 жыл бұрын
The Deluxe / Mini guitars can sound as sweet as BB King's Lucille on the neck PU or sing like the full HB's at the other end (although a lot brighter and they won't drive the amp as hard w/o boost). Banging out distorted chords isn't a demo, it's a disservice. Play some solos clean on both ends, some with a bit of sustain, _then_ some power chords. (Unfortunately banging out power chords/heavy distortion seems to be the test mode for most every KZbin guitar / amp demo).
@ritchtaylor38316 жыл бұрын

Your really pushing it when the best thing you can say about the guitar us that it has really cool old binding and it's black. That guitar amp combination just didn't work. To dry to harsh. I have a 77 Les Paul Deluxe and it has much more warm and to be and mud then the one shown here has.

I wouldn't say Jimi was ahead of his time - I would say he was a man for his time. The true test of art is time - how does it hold up over time. Jimi's music holds up as well today as it did then. Maybe even more revered today than it was then.

Axis Bold is Love was my favorite. It hints to the new direction he was taking. Nobody ever "forgets" how to play the blues anyways, so.. we would still have that; but.. I often wonder about the cool stuff that might have been and never was. If I could own a Les Paul.. it would be that one. I would play Slade, Humble Pie, Electric Light Orchestra and stuff like that. The damn things are like trying to smash a sledge hammer. Don't get me wrong.. it can be done, but.. there are better choices for smashing.

Hey Mark, First off, Thank you for the ceasing of zipper rashing the guitars with your leather. 👍. But I'm hoppin' peeved 'cause when you described the 1979 Les Paul Deluxe, you say, & I kwöt - "Other than that it's kinda like a Les Paul Standard". Shenanigans I say!! If one thing destroys the essence of The Les Paul Tone more than any other, it's A freakin MAPLE NECK!!!. You omitted this very major detail. I'm a guitar weenie I know this stuff, but some of the folks who are considering the purchase of this fine guitar, may not know this, and will be frustrated like I was back in '84, when I got the 82' Cream White SG Special for Christmas, and I couldn't get any Angus out of it. I thought it was me, but ACTUALLY Gibson was making them out of Poplar bodies, and Maple Necks!! Yeah, I've got issues. Anyway, that aside, I love the show, and think that for Boxing Day, Jen should do the review, and you should film it. Peace, Love, and No left handed pick salesmen, Brett
