I love West Virginia. Traveled out to Parkersburg once. Loved it there. Went out to Blennerhassett Island. Even took my Pitty on the Ferry Boat ride out to it. Musicians sitting around jamming when we got there. Playing acoustic guitars, fiddle, and singing John Prine songs. Don’t get any better than that.

Mariachi’s exclusively use “Guitarrón”. Baby Basses have always been a staple of Salsa Orchestras because of their percussive sound.

The Ampeg Baby is an absolute essential in Puerto Rican and Colombian salsa bands, but you have to use flat-wound strings to duplicate that thumpy upright sound. Also, it's better to use a wireless transmitter if you're gonna spin that bad boy!!
@GVike Жыл бұрын
It has flatwounds. Look closely. Also, I never vibed with the thumpy-muddy sound that barely cuts through in salsa.
@EvertAlbers Жыл бұрын
Nothing combines better with congas and piano than a babybass for classic salsa. I prefer *playing* the electric bass, but for recording the babybass usually sounds superior.
@glenkepic32082 жыл бұрын
What the heck just happened ?>?>? ok, just a jam. Great ! Heard about the Baby Bass but never saw one. Mentioned probably the Ampeg name was from the Peg used on a bass. Look at The Stones "Get Yer YaYa's Out", amp by Ampeg. They actually had a tech on board. Not enough Ampeg here. Thanx !
@stephensepan291 Жыл бұрын
the word AMPEG stood for "amplified peg. the founder of the company, Mr Hull, played a full base needed to make the bass louder. he put a piezo electric microphone on an extended peg and made it electronic.
@williamknell8642 жыл бұрын
"Can a Telecaster do that?" LOLOL! {]X^{D } Nice to see a nice left field axe. Shoulda' dimmed the lights and did "Every Breath You Take."

You are not allowed to touch the ampeg baby if you do not have an awesome Viking beard and 25 years of experience playing upright bass. This bass is only for the most graded, the best of the best, the unimaginable, the strong.

Would the bass amplify gut strings? With metal strings doesnt sound musical to my ear.(Left one is completely deaf) :))
@xavierandradev2 жыл бұрын
It would. The pickup is quite unique. It is not a piezo as he says in the video. Is a diaphragm magnetic pickup. The bridge is supported by two thin metallic disks, the diaphragms, that vibrate with the bridge. Those vibrations are picked up by a coil. So any string would work, however part of the percussive sound comes from the diaphragms.
