I can't decide to buy this based on Dom using nothing but heavy distortion sounds in his demo. He's not alone. For some reason, demo people assume we ALL record heavy rock and metal and nothing else. That's not a criticism, it's just their choice. I would have to hear the regular guitars used in ballads, older country, folk...etc...none of which use distortion. Perhaps I'll visit the site and hope they don't use the same demo idea. *EDIT* Just visited the Steinberg site and it's more of the same - distortion guitars. I have no idea what the regular guitars sound like. Not for me.

If interface was combined with NI Sunburst or Mint samples, this instrument wold be killer. It sounds like basic GM patch from Halion etc…

The functionality looks great. But to be honest: the sound is muddy, hollow and really low quality crappy in my ears. There are MUCH better sounding guitar VSTs out there IMO. It's a pity, because I would have liked to use this functionality as Halion eguitar instrument in Cubase.

Man you just wrote exatcly what I wanted to say )) Great functionality and great that in Halion but the sound is not there. When someone on the market will do a really useful guitar vst that sounds like a real guitar? Much needed) PS. presets are so dusty oldschool like Steinberg 😅

Better or equivalent to UJAM or Native Instruments various guitar pattern generators. If you can, please have a face off in programming each to recreate The Buffy Theme which would be great as it contains many styles and riffs. As a bonus, how is this comparable to Strawberry by Orange Tree Samples? I heard that was the best, but need to know. I might purchase this as it's discounted and you've shown a bit of potential. I also like the player mode option. ❤

Do you know if this plugin is suppose to respond to velocity changes? I make velocity changes using midi notes but unlike all my other plugins the volume is not changing. Thanks Dave

In my opinion, the strumming presets sound "quite adventurous" 😉..... Only one example: The clean Funk Guitar 😅 The rhythm distortion presets are quite acceptable. The sequencer is very nice.

I installed it under Win 11. I tried it more times with more settings but it does not work (I can adjust it visually but nothing happens on sound): -the speed change with "Strum" slider -the change of minor/major -the change of "Key" (C....B) What is the solution for resolve these functions' working?

The biggest problem with Halion is that it wants to be a Motif for the poor, and that's exactly what it is. Almost like, but not even close.

How do you change the window size of Artifakt Guitar in Halion ? It's too big and the keyboard is off screen at the bottom.

I had the same problem. Try the thin scrollbar on the right of the plugin. Scrolling down shows the keyboard. You also don't lose any other controls

Nice Tool, but I don't like that sort of sound...if I want a real guitar in my production, I use a guitar ;-) (or ask someone else to play guitar...) but anyway, just my take on it

Window re-sizing not existent? I've got a 42" screen and I'm not able to show the complete plugin - it dominates the entire screen and interferes with accessing the project window and mixer, messing with my workflow. I'm already regretting this purchase. I've asked for a refund.

Is there a switch for doubling guitars or is it only single guitar ? if not it would be a nogo. Sequencer concept looks promising. Would be nice to hear it clean out with TH-U for example, because the amps sound poor imho.

You could set up two instances and add a little variance in one to make it sound more old school like when they recorded themselves playing twice instead of the modern copy/paste sound. Of course this depends on cpu usage and your computer.

@@DenariusHaveNarius Nope, too much hassle (btw almost all the competition has it ) and i do not think it would work either because it will probably only have a limited set of samples per keyswitch, so the same samples will be played from time to time, which is unavoidable.

Doubling two instances will work because we’ve recorded over 10,000 samples, phrases, and artefactual gestures, with up to 64 round robins per pitch and note length. The chances of triggering the same sample simultaneously are extremely low. :)

@@dennidorf ok thank you, but then I'd better wait for the update. It's less likely to have 2 identical samples but from time to time the stereo image will still collapse to mono and who wants to control that all the time. ;-) In the meantime, someone could test artifact heavy guitars in DI mode again with useful amp simulations such as TH-U, Amplitube/Tonex, STL-Tonality or Bogren MLC. These work very well with AmpleSound, Prominy or Shreddage. Another suggestion would be to integrate the entire beloved Steinberg Virtual Guitarist 2 including the mandolins into the Artifact! (The UJAM successors are unfortunately a complete disappointment as the UJAM DI sound is also terrible).

Just based on what I'm hearing on this video, Ample sounds way better to me than this. This does have a more user-friendly UI though, and it's cheaper. Perhaps aiming for a different market.

Yes, you can use chord pads with Artefakt Guitar. Simply switch the trigger mode to poly. Be sure to use guitar voicings for the chord pads instead of piano voicings, as this is essential for achieving an authentic sound.

Thanks Dom, I bought the product, but much to my suprise, the sound database is tuned to around 420 Hz, not 440 Hz. This makes the product impossible to use inside Halion in combination with other sounds, and cannot be used togheter with real instruments like harmonica. More or less useless I would say. Wrote to Steinberg support to see if this is a misstake that can be fixed. Otherwise, avoid this product. There is no testversion. You have to buy it to see that it cannot be used togehter with other digital or real instruments. 100 dollars lost.😮
