Songwriting is fun when you can actually see what you're doing. I use the familiar patterns of color to explain music theory so you can write songs.

Just learn the spacings of one of the natural scales like it's the back of your hand and remember where the root note repeats across the fret board. It's as simple as that, every single scale and mode can be found by ever so slightly altering one of the natural scales so if you know one of them thoroughly (They're basically the same) you can access any scales you want. At that point you just have to practice to get the technical part down.

Well no. You dont have to. Every string on the guitar is about one and a half octaves so in away, you are playing a large piano. The thing is, the very same notes appear in different places on the fretboard. If you have learned the 'shortest route' to each one, learning to play a new song is damn easy. Marking the fretboard? Yea why not, it's a great way to know where you are regardless of scales 😊

I read the book 📖 first and then watch the film. And if you read the book and then watch the film you get more details for me I read the book 📖 the outsiders and then watch the film 🎞 and I realize that the movie 🍿 have less details like it’s like a broader overview of the subject but don’t give you the details. Books give you details if you read it more than 2 or more times similar to a recording album 💿 like say your favorite 🤩 artist is tears for fears and the album 💿 the seeds of love ❤ if you listen to the first time great 😌. But if you listen to it 2 or more times like 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 you’ll knowtice these details that are in a book 📖 for me if I had to choose for stronger between book 📖 vs movie 🍿 I would choose stronger by Jeff beauman because I would read it over and over and over again and find those details and books strengths your brain 🧠 and also books 📖 also more details because people want more details about the book 📖. While movie 🍿 it’s quicker and broader too.

Pros of reading books over movies There is more depth to a book, scenes are described in more detail, and have more plot-setting scenes. A book allows the reader to use their imagination. Readers follow the plot as it was intended by the author. Cons of reading books over movies Books take a long time to read, sometimes several days. Some books can drag in the middle. Dialogues can sometimes be unrealistic in books but come to life on the big screen. Pros of watching movies over reading books Movies are quicker than books. You can watch a movie with a friend, but you can’t read a book with someone else. You don’t have to concentrate on a movie and there is less need for your own imagination. Acting is an art form. Cons of watching movies over reading books Scenes are often adapted or deleted based on what looks better visually. Viewers are often left asking questions because scenes from the book not being included. Characters can often be drastically changed.

Let's be REALLY honest-this is one more attemot to make people feel like secret music genuises without doing any work, when the simple reality is there's something to be said for learning something that's less intuitive if it serves you throughout your career. It's not simply "tradition"; the classic way of learning persists because it has the most utliity, and the reason I don't trust your pitch is because you tried to lie to me about this.

It's wise to learn basic music, it's really not that hard..Music in the west is only 12 notes,.8 notes to a scale. I've always taught guitar students to learn the 3 chord "blues" idiom. Once you grasp 1-4-5... there's literally thousands of popular songs you can play.. Like Dylan said anymore than 3 chords in a song is just showing off😅

What music truly needs is a new system. The entire system is just a bunch of temporary kneejerk solutions stacked on top of each other and taught to new musicians. # and b? You have twelve equally spaced notes but share a prefix and have two names? Thats ridiculous. The notes should be 1-12, no sharps, no flats. This way music would stop being complicated in it's entirety.. Music theory would become obvious. Most patterns would become intuitive.

Should I actually put those tabs on my guitar to help me learn? It’s not a terribly expensive guitar(around 350 USD) and if this would help me learn I’d be willing to sacrifice a little visual appearance. Anyone who’s tried this have any thoughts?

Not to be rude but… You’re not the epitome of guitar or guitar learning theory. I have no fucking clue about what the specific scales are or even half the cords I play (hell I don’t even have any fretted notes memorized) I just have THE SOUNDS memorized which allows me to incorporate and use them.

That's quite fascinating. You took a whole minute to say absolutely nothing of substance on the topic. Impressive. Very nice. Let's see Paul Allen's scale tutorial in Shorts.

The best way to use music theory is learn the name of the notes, learn the notes on the fret board and the pattern of scales and modes which are all from the major scale for example play a Gmajor scale, now play the same notes from A to A and that's A Dorian ABCDEF"GA if you the Gmajor scale notes from Dcto D is D mixolydian DEF#GABCD once you've got that down everything else makes so much more sense. Play thinking notes not frets

Bro, what? You play the notes in the scale, because those are the notes in the scale. Thats what makes it a scale. Professional Babbler. "An organized matrix" bro give me a break. The neck is the direct order of notes in music. Its not complicated and its definitely not a matrix. Bro just did the opposite of sell his class. Hes basically selling us on avoiding his class lol.
