Yeah, James voice was pretty much over when the food poisoning accident. But I wonder if you were a Petrucci fan during your teenager year. He's already a beast back then.

I didn’t know there was an incident. I’m pretty old, so I was more into fusion and avant-jazz by the time I knew about DT. My brother, who is younger, always talked about them and I did have a year or so where I got into them. Thanks for the comment.

Portnoy-Rudess-Petrucci have an instrumental side project together called Liquid Tension Experiment (with Tony Levin on Bass) that you may or may not enjoy and Portnoy was in a somewhat ill-fated project with Russell Allen called Adrenaline Mob (not really worth the time, IMO).

I definitely listened to Liquid Tension. I forgot about Adrenaline Mob, never got into that band.

This song is the most underrated DT song. You nailed it. Lyrics are always painful. I think it’s from those soft legacy Rush fans that cross over that have been so miserably feminized from 90’s Rush and Time Stand Still type songs.

The last Rush record I can listen too is Grace Under Pressure. I bought Power Windows when it was released, but I can’t name a song off the subsequent records that is listenable.
