Nikka Costa. He had eclectic tastes and found talent off the beaten track. Hearing him play for others makes me think if he could have been a Quincy Jones-type figure in the 90s if he hadn't spent his energy on the fight against Warner Bros... She is a great soulful singer and this is a cool version. I also just wish we got more guitar solo as with out the strong vocal muting it.

Love this version...Nikka brings great energy to the song and levels things up with her low key techniques like playing with mic distance, etc.; the Prince comp work is on point, and while the guitar work is less up front that the solo version of the song, the solo is extremely well crafted in its structure and attack. Too bad the chorus is kinda muddled in the mix, but the tune is still a high point from that concert
