This song was supposed to be several minutes longer but the producer cut it down to make it radio friendly, even though this one wasn't a single. When the author, Jim Steinman, came into the studio the next day and heard the shorter version, He told the producer to NEVER chop up one of his songs again. It still turned out really good, but I'm pretty sure part of what was cut out was another verse that would be "The Ending" as you described earlier.

There seems to be a few things you guys are missing out on here. Jim Steinman wrote most of the Bat Out of Hell Album as a project for a Rock Version Musical of Peter Pan in around 1974. It was always a concept album telling a complete story from start to finish. It was always a Musical. Meatloaf was already an accomplished Musical Actor / Singer, I believe he was in the Broadway hit of the Musical Hair. They came together to produce the 1977 Album version of Bat Out of Hell (and BOoH 2) Which shot them to international stardom. Bat Out of Hell, Heaven Can Wait and this song (originally titled The Formation of the Pack) were three songs that Steinman and Meatloaf took from the original 74 Musical to form the basis of the BoH Album. They went on to produce quite a few more songs together. Meatloaf is the Performer, Steinman is the Writer. - Whilst Jack Black is quite a good Musical Actor in his own right, I don't think he could ever fill the space left by Meatloaf, nor do I think should anyone try. There is no need, as there is so much footage of the legend himself to watch.
@davidgingery89279 ай бұрын
Like Amber said, there's a beginning, a middle and an end. That's why you have to listen to the entire album in it's entirety, because the first song starts the story and each consecutive song builds on the entire story the album is presenting. Jim Steinman wrote these songs to portray a story. That's why it's considered a rock opera.
