Yes, besides some great music, Meat Loaf has also made a number of movies. One of my favorites is Roadie (1980). The most interesting part of this movie is that Meat Loaf does not sing, but everyone else does (Debbie Harry, Hank Williams Jr,. Roy Orbison, and Alice Cooper, just to name a few). The tag line of the movie is "The Bands make it Rock, but the Roadies make it Roll!" Check it out sometime. Meat Loaf also appears in Spice World (1997), but you really have to watch Roadie first to get many of the gags he has in Spice World. Let me just say that Meat Loaf saves that movie - I only watched it because I had a couple pre-teen daughters when it came out.

Amber, if you like stories and metal, I highly recommend the album/CD "Operation: Mindcrime" by Queensryche. You already reacted to one song from it. But the entire album is a deep story about a drug addict recruited by an evil organization to become an assassin. In the end he must deal with "straight-jacket memories" or "sedative highs" as he is abandoned. It is one of the greatest albums ever made. It's like listening to a movie while your imagination paints the scene. I saw it live in concert. Best concert I ever went to. Get it. Start at the beginning. Follow the lyrics. You will not be sorry.

There seems to be a few things you guys are missing out on here. Jim Steinman wrote most of the Bat Out of Hell Album as a project for a Rock Version Musical of Peter Pan in around 1974. It was always a concept album telling a complete story from start to finish. It was always a Musical. Meatloaf was already an accomplished Musical Actor / Singer, I believe he was in the Broadway hit of the Musical Hair. They came together to produce the 1977 Album version of Bat Out of Hell (and BOoH 2) Which shot them to international stardom. Bat Out of Hell, Heaven Can Wait and this song (originally titled The Formation of the Pack) were three songs that Steinman and Meatloaf took from the original 74 Musical to form the basis of the BoH Album. They went on to produce quite a few more songs together. Meatloaf is the Performer, Steinman is the Writer. - Whilst Jack Black is quite a good Musical Actor in his own right, I don't think he could ever fill the space left by Meatloaf, nor do I think should anyone try. There is no need, as there is so much footage of the legend himself to watch.
