You manage to get across in 12 minutes what many guitar teachers fail to put across in 12 lessons. Thanks so much Brett.
@robertgoodwinr65235 жыл бұрын
I hear ya. Most teachers you visit are out to make money and will milk it for their benefit! I got a guy who runs a guitar shop up the street from me (nice guy) but he can't believe how much i've learned on my own with youtube in only 3 months. I will not take lessons from him because he wants you to sign a contract to take so many lessons with all these rules that go along with it. I'm all set with that.

This is a *great* lesson. I've been trying to figure out how to map the chords to the pentatonic scale for at least a year. Using only 3 chords is a great idea, keeps it simple. To anyone confused what he means by position 1, position 2 etc. it just refers to the 5 positions of the pentatonic scale.
@BrettPapa6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking it out!
@PE1978C7 жыл бұрын
Great lesson! For those who may be confused about the "positions" here, they are the 5 pentatonic patterns. I have learned them, but am now starting to associate them with the 5 CAGED shapes, as papastache is showing us here. To add even more confusion (not on purpose, but bear with me), each pentatonic pattern can be associated with two CAGED shapes. Now to clear it up: That's because the patterns overlap. The end of one pattern is the same as the beginning of the next pattern.
@BrettPapa7 жыл бұрын
That's a great combo. I go over that a lot. Thanks for watching!

It’s everything man. It’s such a cool theory piece for learning and knowing where you’re at. But this video, it’s so good man. What a great way to show it all, and I got some new licks out of it! i don't think people realize how important this lesson is. Step by step I've been starting to understand the fretboard so much better now, and this is a capstone lesson really. Cool, using the chords as the target notes really helped me sound more melodic. The hardest thing is sometimes I get too focused on the chords and licks are hard to think of, I play the same thing over and over again. But this is where stuff like stacking and bending comes in!

+alex1020 I feel yuh happens to me still too haha! You are right though just concentrate on four or five notes at a time and the feel. you can tweak the same few notes a million different ways with bends.
