This Is The Fist Time I’ve Ever Seen Someone Capture The Essence Of This Song : With A Systematic Breakdown. And A Juxtaposing Comparison. Your Analogy Is Spot On. From The Way Bob Skanked, To The Way Held His Hand Out, Then Adjusted The Mic. The Beat Indeed Tells A Story, So Compelling, That One’s Soul Felt Empowered. My Mother Was A Theoretical MusicTeacher, She Tried To Explain It To Me The Way, You Have, But @ That Time I Was Too Young To Comprehend. So It’s Great To See Someone, Who Gets It ( @ Least The Way She Tried To Explain It Back Then). Bob Was Ahead Of His Time, Like Micheal Jackson, & So Many Others. Growing Up In Jamaica, We Never Knew What We Had In Bob Until It Was Too Late. But My Respects For Breaking This Down You’re Unique, But So Familiar @ The Same Time. Blessings!!!!

@bajawkamare4 жыл бұрын
You're a star man! You couldn't have picked a better song to dissect at this pivotal moment. The lyrics are from a section of a speech Haile Selassie made on 4 Oct 1963 to the United Nations General Assembly. The 2 key points were on "disarmament" and "establishment of true equality among men". There is a long preamble but the penultimate paragraph before he launches into "Until the philopsophy...." is the following: "In the United States of America, the administration of President Kennedy is leading a vigorous attack to eradicate the remaining vestige of racial discrimination from this country. We know that this conflict will be won and that right will triumph. In this time of trial, these efforts should be encouraged and assisted, and we should lend our sympathy and support to the American Government today." 57 years later.... the KKK has taken over the White House. Marley also said "if you know your history, then you would know where you coming from".

I fell in love with uncle Bob's music when I was just a kid around 10 years of age. I couldn't read or write music or know the music terminologies, but I knew then exactly what you're talking about now. How every instrument, if listened to individually, told a story, which enhanced the whole story and message. And when peiced together, actually created an image in the mind that accompanied the message or meaning of the lyrics, where the overall sound and feel of the song, suited the words and the meaning. And the icing on the cake was his perfect voice, sung from the heart with full intent and meaning. At the age of 10 I couldn't find any other musician that could do all that. Every song was equally and carefully constructed. He's the only artist I can truly say doesn't have a bad song that I cannot listen to. Even to this day there is probably only a handful of musicians that manages to do that. Most only have 1 or the other, not the full package.

Of course people like me knew better. Nowadays, many musicians now give the music the credit it deserves. Part of being a good musician is to learn, study, and appreciate other musical styles, it enriches your craft and ultimately makes you better at what you do.

Yeah man spot on.. As you say applies to Crazy Baldhead, what great dynamics there between bass, guitar riff, drums, keyboard shuffle.. They leave so much room for each other Together ... wow

Thanks for being a good dude and addressing the times we live in. I'm a guitar teacher as well and do my best to keep stay on the topic of music. However, there's a lot of hurt out there and it's healthy to work it out with good tunes. Keep up the great work!

Wonderful breakdown of one Bob's most Powerful songs. A true pleasure to see someone appreciate this Prophetic message from perhaps the most important artist to ever live. Thank You!

Thanks so much for doing this Michael! Bob Marley changed my life in my teens, living in AL, surrounded by extreme racism! I can tell you feel the music/message, and would love to hear your thoughts on how it developed from Ska, to Rock Steady, to Reggae, and what that means musically!

I feel like we're always on the same wavelength dude. I was literally just listening to the Playing for Change version of this the same day you posted this video. I was listening to Bob Marley all day thinking how relevant his message would be in light of current issues and how important it is to use the music as a healing force to incite positive change. I just discovered your channel from your Goose and Billy Strings videos super recently too. The synchronicities of the universe blow my mind sometimes. Thank you.

I have another read to this: with the uncharacteristic pause, Bob invites you to become one with the music. What an inspired fusion!

among the enormous amount of incredible lyrics bob marley wrote war it's simply the transcription of a speech that haile selassie took in 1963. he only added war. R.N.M a true inspired person. he changed my life when i was young

Politically agnostic, I’m stealing it.... we should all do our own thing, serving our greater purpose instead of listening to folks that are even more clueless than us.... left vs right tribalism has gotten us nowhere.... divisions make us all weak... we get to occupy this little blue ball, but for just a flash, make the most of it.... I’ve always admired the Jamaican culture of letting nothing get you down no matter how bad it is, we all need a little more of that, just let it go and power on.... Bob is gone, you will be to soon, what will you do today with it, be angry, or make yourself happy, and let others be happy as well, It’s a choice.. so much to enjoy regardless of circumstances.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I am baffled and saddened when I hear about people not knowing any of his music. I introduced Bob Marley to my kids when they were babies. A life without his music is not a life I would have wanted to have. He completely changed my life and got me through some terrible times
