The best part of the solo was in the beginning where he gives us a taste and then makes you wait and anticipate the next set of notes . Most guitar players get nervous in the silence and start filling it up with unnecessary sound ,but Quinn holds the silent space with a beautiful liveliness and then places some more beautiful notes on top of that silence . brilliant .

He tore that up from top to bottom! I hear the soul of Daryl Hall in the vocal delivery, and so many guitar influences coming in and out. A bit of Eric Johnson mixed with touch of Eric Clapton and the control of the harmonic feedback like Satriani ... and many more, that he has thrown into a melting pot and made it his own. Very tasty. Very meaty. And awesome study in mixing tragedy and romance. Thanks to the sub that sent this to you, and thank you Michael for sharing your breakdown and thoughts!

I came to this video because it mentions Quinn Sullivan in the title, and I’m a huge Quinn fan. I know nothing about how to play music or the guitar, and I didn’t understand a word you were saying…BUT…as a non-musician, there is something about Quinn’s music that is hard to explain. I just “feel” his music deeply and emotionally. So watching your break his guitar playing down into the details, and the emotion and appreciation you showed for his talent was fascinating to listen and watch. You understand his music on a very different and deeper level than I ever will, but the net affect is the same…. His music touches the soul. Thank you for your detailed analysis. It was amazing.

Quinn was 8 when he stepped on stage in our hometown New Bedford, Ma at the Zeiterion theater. I was at a pre-concert party on the top of the Z's parking garage and thought "man, this little kid is going to play with Buddy Guy??" Well, he did, Buddy was shocked and ended up taking Quinn under his wing. Quinn had already been a guest on Ellen DeGeneres when he was 6 doing Beatles music. It;s been fun following his progression. He appears to be a good kid from a good family who still seems to have his head screwed on straight in an industry that destroys so many artists. Next week he's back in the area at a performing arts center and yeah, I'll be there.
