I've always had so much respect for key players who can do that. Another of my favorite players is a young girl (I think she is 17 or 18 now, I can't remember) called "Domi" and she is un-freaking-believable. She might not be to the level of Cory Henry yet, but she doesn't need to be. Her style is also very different, too. She plays with another kid who is even a year or two younger than she is called "J.D. Beck" and he's already ridiculously good drummer. I highly recommend looking up those two if you haven't already. They just did a set on the "Zildjian Live" series which, by the way, needs to be at the top of your list right now if you haven't been watching them yet. Larnell Lewis did a set on the series last summer and OMG he is a beast. The house band for the series was put together by Sput Searight, who is another prominent Snarky Puppy drummer, and Nate Werth, who is the incredible percussionist for Snarky Puppy.

This set of sessions for "We Like It Here" was the 3rd time in a row that Snarky recorded an album LIVE in a studio (with an audience), previous instances are "Tell Your Friends" and "Ground Up" (great videos of pretty much all of that stuff). They chose to do that because they are first and foremost a LIVE band, this is how they play all the time. OK, it is true that when they do this, they do multiple runs through the material, like might book 4 nights in the studio and do 2 sets each night with the audience, so they do get maybe 8 takes of every tune, and obviously the ones we see in the recording are the best takes, but still. I've seen Snarky play live 8 times over the past few years, and their performances are aways insanely wonderful.

this composition sets the stage for one of the most brilliant keyboard solos we've all been blessed to enjoy. Thank you Cory Henry. This is obviously not the first time you've heard this, so it's not your first reaction. If it were, you would continue to be spellbound during the coda instead of playing along; Cory's brilliant imagination and kinetic energy doesn't let up and actually increases the musical excitement as he interacts with the horns in a magnificent display of contrapuntal ingenuity. He's a genius. Thank you for your channel!

I don't listen to the original video anymore because this reaction video is so much more entertaining. His face when cory firsts starts playing the otherworldy chords is priceless and exactly the correct emotion.

This was so fun. I really wouldn't be surprised if you'd heard him before, but I would LOVE to see you watch Jacob Collier's stuff. He's an absolute musical genius who plays just about every instrument ever made. He has many many must-sees, but his arrangement of the Flintstones theme was one of his first Grammy winners. He has bigger, more mind melting stuff (Moon River, All Night Long) but I think starting with his earlier, more pared down stuff might be nice. The guy's a real treasure, though and I'd love to overload you with other song recommendations if you like him.

I think Jacob Collier is amazing but I haven't been able to get into his produced music. I think I saw him on Tiny Desk and it was amazing and that's what I'm looking for more of.

Keep in mind, the drummer larnel Lewis had to fill in last minute. This is essentially his first time playing these tracks with the band, he learned all the songs on this album on a 6 hour flight. He is incredible

I see they won the 2021 Grammy for best contemporary instrumental album (which i'm buying now). Not that we need to be competitive but they are top shelf for sure.

Engaging, visceral reaction to what, I agree, is one of the great musical moments on video. I discovered this clip a few years back and just return to it every few weeks or so. Was fun to relive my first encounter with it through your reaction. And, as many have mentioned, this is just one song from an incredible session in Amsterdam. Lastly, if you enjoy Cory you'll get his "Apostles of Funk" band - too much fun. Love the channel MP.

Exactly the same for me. I might go a month without hearing it and something reminds me to come back and watch it again. I can't watch it sitting down, it's too good! I love getting to share this video with people.

The look on your face as you attempt to look for an opening to try and jam along is akin to watching a school playground were a child is attempting to jump rope with two friends swinging the rope and you as the jumper looking for the rhythm and never quite finding an opening to jump in. You are the best. 😂😂

I am so happy....all of you musicians were BORN, I really do. I love you guy's parents, for birthing such amazing musician specialists into this mundane world of hell. Life became tolerable from just experiencing this intricate musicianship and master class contribution. I don't understand why music does to the brain and spirit as it does. But I NEED it and can't balance out my life without it. It's another language another form of LOVING someone if thee creators want it to be. For my mental health.....please stay safe and healthy.

I was told about these guys by a now sadly departed very special local musician Reg Webb and my reaction was very similar to the look on your face watching them. We had the good fortune to get to see them live at Jazz in Marciac a few years ago and they blew us away, and every time I hear this I get emotional it’s just so incredible to see so many people playing so tightly and having a great time doing it.

This song rocks, but there is another song on this album called 'What about me'. It's filmed in the same way and room and everything. And it's like this song crossed with Jimi Hendrix and there is another guitarist in the band called Bob Lanzetti. And he delivers one of the eeriest and most fascinating guitar solos I have seen in a while. Definitely check it out if you thought this was awesome. Edit: It also has Larnell (the drummer) give one of his most badass performances.

This video gives me some kind of feeling I've never had in this kind of way. Normally, only bursts of genius improvisation give me this feeling where I sit back and my brain stops even attempting to analyze whats going on in front of me. Total relaxation, total peace in those moments. I just had that feeling during this entire video. It's why I have always, and will forever love music. What a special piece, one of those things that make you feel lucky to be living when you are. Though the music is the star of this video, you are a perfectly humble person to reflect on, and share your thoughts on it. I appreciate you. Much Love-
