Great lesson again Sean! Mixing rhythm and lead - it's really the ultimate in terms of sounding interesting when playing in isolation, isn't it? Well, maybe the ultimate would be "chord melody" type playing, but that's way too much thinking for my liking...this kind of stuff is awesome (still a lot of thinking but I feel I can handle this)!

Thanks for all of your mixing rhythm and lead lessons by the way! It's something I've been focusing on for the last year or so, and your lessons have helped me make breakthroughs with this concept in particular! I'd actually been playing guitar for about 21 years before I looked into how to blend the two...maybe I would have learned those lessons a bit sooner if I bothered to learn a Hendrix of John Mayer song instead of lots of AC/DC (haha), but seeing I didn't learn Hendrix/Mayer etc, I can claim that I learned it all mostly from you, so thanks!

I'm the butthead that threw shade on a soloing lesson of yours a couple months ago, which was my shitty, needless and petty act of the month. Congrats! With your fretboard knowledge I see (hear?) awesome things to come. Speaking of ancient, you're pretty much highlighting the "Clapton Box" from 1968ish, which may be well worn, but still has a certain luster.

It never occurred to me to tie them up. Excellent idea! (I normally just look them straight in the eye and say, "Behave yourself," - but then I'm quite a lot uglier than you, so maybe that's necessary before that kind of restraint technique is going to work.) I wonder if I should use pretty pink ribbons, and tie bows in them? That would look nice, I think. Nice big puffy bows. And maybe still tell them to behave, since that almost always works, so don't fix what ain't broke, as me dear old granddad used to say.

Thank you 🙏🏾 for this video. i found you through Amazon while looking for Guitars 🎸 to buy. I’ve been thinking about learning guitar. Guitar is my favorite thing in this world and learning to play would be a dream come true. Also, what kind of guitar is that your playing?

PS - Slide that down (up?) the neck to the cowboy chord area of Em, Am and Cmaj and you can slip in a lot of open strings and sound like a goddamned legend.

I guess it depends on what you consider a beginner on the guitar. I have never finger picked, so I can't do any of what you are showing here with my right hand. I suppose the left hand playing can still be done while using a pick and it should sound good as well. I'm actually looking for something similar for what you did with your "fake playing" method on the piano to use for the guitar. Do you have any "fake playing" for the guitar, or can you do something similar to your piano lessons? Thank you, Sean, I enjoy your easy going style of teaching.

That touch stone box for A where your go to low E (0,2,4 x 3) and then go to A root and R-2-4 over 2,4 half step, 2, 4; or something like that -- how does that SFSU’s move, I can’t play B major by starting at F# using that

Thanks for the lesson. Don't recall you playing a strat recently. First thing I noticed was the odd tone that sounded a bit congested as though the guitar had a cold and wondered Are those noiseless pickups? You know you've been watching too many guitar videos when you're right about something like that.
@seandaniel232 жыл бұрын
haha yup, noiseless they are.

I never think of scales to play over chords, thats harder for me. My mind always goes to arpeggiating, using chord tones and bits and pieces of the scale. Throwing in chromatic notes works for me too, as long as they resolve on a chord tone. When I’m going to the next chord, I don’t go to the root most of the time, I find the nearest chord tone. I don’t know why this is easier for me to understand

All good but I'd like to ask a different question. Over the past 20 years I've spent silly money on guitars but I feel it's pretentious when people see them. What's your take on buying budget guitars and putting really good pickups / pots etc on them? Like an Epiphone Les Paul upgraded. I did just buy a B&G step Sister guitar (not too expensive) and it's perfect, just saying. May you and yours never be plagued with fits.

Ya boy Stich is got him a new Fruit Punch Silver Sky in today’s lesson. Took him forever to get a Strat then runs out and gets him a knock-off week one. Then teaches an Eric Johnson lesson on his new not-a-strat. You think you know people.

@@lukesteverything627 My dog was always too busy buying NFTs and investing in crypto to take up a respectable hobby like flying.
