I have a Washburn D34s twelve fretter for picking and a D52sw for strumming (a beautifully balanced guitar) both much loved and treasured I also have a couple of Tacoma acoustics that are also under rated ..... there are some great bargains out there if you are patient.

You always lose me when you start talking 1, 4, 5 chords.. or 7. Are those the numbers of the major scale? I can never wrap my head around this.

#5 is good with the I maj7 too. (Keyboard player here) Great tension leading to the 3rd of the IV chord. Don’t know how you’d voice that on the guitar though.

Obviously, I can only speak for myself, but I'm 71 years old and my guitar playing is better than it's ever been! I've made a living playing guitar for 50 years and now that I haven't had a "significant other" for the past three years, I practice two to four hours everyday. Most of my practice is playing jazz standards with backing tracks on KZbin, but I have to play rock and pop covers to make a living; jazz gigs don't pay my bills unfortunately; they're more like a hobby. Anyway, my heart goes out to those who have arthritis; I've been very lucky that my hands work fine; knock on wood! My brain doesn't work so great anymore EXCEPT for when I play guitar; strange, but thank God for that not so small favor!

Have you tested a BROMO yet? They are amazing acoustic guitars made in Indonesia for like $260.. They have everything you see in $1000 guitars like big abalone inlays, abalone rosettes, binding, ebony finger boards, really good electronics w built in tuners, and more shet I can’t remember. It’s actually insane how much guitar you get for the price. I just ordered their BAT 4CE SG model. You should check them out, they’re amazing, especially for the price.. Maybe they can send you one for free for testing it idk lol

Ok ok...hold on. Good for sure cause all his riffs are excellent. But best? Lol not even close. My personal favorites are Condor Ave, Angeles intro and Roman Candle (the title track not the whole album although its a fantastic album). But out of all his songs my favoirte is cerainly Angel in the Snow. All those songs of his i listed i play often and i will be playing a cover version of all those songs till i die and still wont equal the original but playing them for people who might become fans of Elliotts afterwards makes its all worth it. ...smh Sweet Adaline "the best riff"....d :

It is rare you find someone that laughs at their own jokes and gets away with it. Dude, you funny, I am laughing out loud. Serious note, have you given any thought to previewing what's in your online patreon lessons? Course outline would be killer, think about it.

Made me laugh several times! Love the off-the-cuff randomness. As a 1-year beginner, the chord shapes all seem interesting and doable, but i would really like to be able to do what you do with your right hand! It's so effortly rhythmic and varied. It seems like you're just casually NOT playing certain strings on certain strums to add some of that variety. Is that true or am i imagining things? What's a good way to think about/practice all the variety on the right hand within any given chord shape?

If you have a good ukulele you can play those same chords AND work in the blues scale by using the 3rd,5th, and 7th frets. You can also use two alternate chord formations to make dominate 7s. You can add a lot of variation to the same old 1, 4, 5, chord progression.
