very cool and it looks great. the shape of soundholes does influence the sound, and in violins the longer and thinner the f-holes the better they help the projection. in acoustics round holes do make them sound boomy like you're describing, which may or may not be desirable (and can be prevented by using a feedback supressor). so rosettes like this one, found commonly on lutes, are not only esthetically pleasing but may very well be sonically advantageous. anyway, now i want one as well :)

you can buy the covers off eBay, but printing them yourself is very slow and electricity is expensive now 😒

Really cool.I have been working on a few designs for the sound holes on my guitars and was struggling to find a decent way of sitting them in.Your method looks ideal.I thought a while ago about 3d printing but there are that many on the market its a bit confusing as not all printers work with TPU filament from what I can gather.I presume the file for the insert can be scaled up and down to suit different diameter sound holes?

Thanks for your feedback . . yes, you can scale the file up or down as you need. This 3D printer is quite old now and printers and cutters have got a lot better. 😊

Is this your own design? It's stunning. Being Irish, I can really relate to the celtic knotwork design. I have a CNC, so I'm thinking of getting some hardwood sheets and trying to mill one out of that.

Unfortunately not . . the design is a classic design that's been applied to a feedback suppressor . .

@@gerrykavanagh You're OK for personal use but if you want to use it commercially I don't know what the legal implications are. But if you're doing commercial stuff you should be doing your own designs anyway surely.

I use these covers when filming myself, because then the camera focuses on the front of the guitar instead of in the hole 😊
