This is such a great song to learn for all the things you mentioned Shane. I love that you talk about a "recovery time". For most of us guitar playing is full of mistakes. That's the nature of learning anything new. A friend of mine once told me that one of the most important things in playing guitar is how you recover after a mishap. For me, even if I have to mute all the strings and play a little "Drum" for a beat or two I try never to break rhythm. It has served me well over the years. Thanks so much.

You helped me immensely with this video. I have tried to use what I refer to as palm muting (what you call the "whack" technique) in the past to get that snare sound on the 2 and 4 count, but the sound was inconsistent. Sometimes I got the sound I wanted but other times strings rang out and it didn't sound good. I slowed your play through at the end of the lesson to half speed and noticed your hand placement. When I strummed the strings before muting on the 2 and 4 count my pick hit the strings at the end of the sound hole closest to the bridge. I noticed your pick hit the strings at the sound hole nearest the fretboard. I adjusted hand placement and the "whack" sounded perfect everytime. It amazes me that simple adjustments can make the difficult seem easy! This may not seem like a big deal to some but it is huge for me!! Thanks for this video. Great lesson!

Again, another fantastic lesson. Thanks, also, for the Beatbuddy setup advice. Works great. I don't know if I am alone on this but your lower close ups from strumming hand to fret hand angles are a pit more difficult to follow your index and middle fingering on fret hand. Please, not complaining but just requires more rewinds. If you view your video of "My Life" and earlier videos you'll see what I am describing. I believe you camera angle moved about a foot to the right. Again, please don't take it as a complaint. Just trying to stay up with fret hand. Thanks so much for the lessons. Absolutely love them. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. God bless!

Wow. What a great lesson. Thanks for that. I would benefit greatly if you would do a lesson on a John Denver song: Wild Montana Skies. Strumming pattern escapes me, and the first couple of chords are really high on the neck...likely octaves of chords in the regular verses. I can't figure those out from any of the videos of his concerts because the camera pans away too early. The closest I get is from the PBS Wildlife Concert. If you can find it in your schedule / interest, I would love to learn that from you. Keep posting videos. You're doing a great service.
