@JasonChamberlain10 жыл бұрын
I dont like the purist opinion that drummers should just play drums. Electronic integration in an instrumental performance is underrated by so many people. There's nothing like listening to someone with talent just have at their instrument, but it takes a certain kind of mindset to understand textures and rhythms and live programming. And to play in time with all that is harder than most people imagine. Ive played with drummers who were talented in their own right but just could not keep in time with patches. Some would argue that isn't such a bad thing, but a drummer who can integrate as opposed to just have his bandmates follow his timing is a good drummer.
@JasonChamberlain10 жыл бұрын
What kind of destructive comment is that? The mockery, the hatred. He has a different opinion, but I cannot see it in me the need to say those things to anyone.

I learned what I considered to be the two most exciting and impressive parts 2:19 - 2:40 and 3:39 - 3:50 and they weren't as difficult as I thought they'd be. Its the contrast to what comes before and the speed and ferocity with which he plays. He's playing top speed or pretty near top speed. He hits a stick at 3:49 on those triplets rolls from the first tom, snare, floor tom and two on the bass drum. He's my favorite drummer since .....I don't know. There's some great performances in songs but all around drumming like ilan? Who also sings great and plays guitar and bass and writes good songs. Fuck yeah!! A+

I remember watching this when it came out and everyone was knocking on this guy for using the drum machine and I knew as a drummer that thing didn’t make a difference at all to his awesome talent. All it did was prove he could play these sick beats and keep them in time and not cheat. Most people thought he was in the drum contest and should have won it. But he was a guest performer. If he was in the contest he would have won 1st 2nd and 3rd place with those hands of his. Rumor has it they had to stop the contest because he was gonna mow any competitor down and require the past years winners to turn in their awards for his mantle. This guy is the real deal.

At 2:20 I believe it's BLRB LRBR LBLR BRLB LRBR LBLR BRLB RLRL. Which is essentially just 4 16th notes, then 4 groupings of a 6/16 pattern, followed by anther 4 16th notes. At 3:40 the idea is similar, with 2 groupings of a 6/16 pattern, followed by 2 groupings of 4 16th notes, which implies 5/4, but after 6 total bars of variations on this lick it meets back up at 4/4. The concept may seem a bit tricky, but the sticking is again all single strokes. He's alternating between RLRLRB and RLRB.
