One thing to say to you Michael is that youtube should be honored to be part of its community. You are a real diamond and I really learnt a lot of things from you. Please, don't stop, people need like these videos . You are spreading 'musicality' traits to all of us. Keep up the good work.

Finally something that actually helped me with this. Been playing for over a year and can play some pretty complicated stuff but this has been something Ive always struggled with despite it seeming really simple on the surface
@DANKZI

This is actually something that most players pick up at some point if they've spent enough time with metronome. It becomes like a second nature. I hear the first few beeps and then the sound simply disappears. Start out with something simple, like get an 8th note groove going on playing muted strings and let the metronome do the rest.

Most metronome lessons just teach playing along with a scale or a simple strum pattern. This lesson teaches improvising. What I really need to see is playing a full song with intro., verse, chorus, licks, and ending along with a metronome.

Totally agree! I’ve watched tons of metronome videos and never seen an actual use of it with an actual song to show us the reality of how it works. This is where I am struggling! I’m tired of hearing simples 1, 2 , 3 ,4…. It’s theory, it’s the beginning but not daily reality.

this is a really helpful approach. my timing has suffered from relying on backing tracks for practice. yet, practice with a metronome has been elusive and painful for me. i think that this will help. thanks!

I would suspect that if you’re truly ‘Listening’ to & along with the metronome IT also teaches you to pay attention to the SPACE Between the notes~~ the timing specifically 🧐 (I am an insane music lover~know a few guitar chords & played drums in 7th&8th grades) I am so impressed with note spacing, how it allows me essentially to become my own/or simply an instrument while dancing 💃🏼; I was once told by a band warming up backstage that I was dancing 💃🏼 a flutists part that they once used to incorporate 😳😊)

I wish you would have had the metronome louder so we could better hear how the licks linked up with the one. Not saying they did go off. But I do it myself. I mean sometimes. Just once in a while. But congratulations!
@chewybang
@chewybang 2 жыл бұрын
Another thing that i believe is important is to internalize that beat, meaning you get your body moving/grooving to that beat. Notice your body, head, hand, arm, foot moving to that beat and keeping timing. You do it naturally in this and all your videos. If you are not doing that naturally, you need to work on that IMO
