Greg Robinson Hmm. The MicroStation is going on 10 years old, so the i3's technology is bang up to date and has a more user friendly interface. Although, looking at the spec, the i3 is maybe less powerful. The Kross 2 is more like the MicroStation. Hope that helps bud! 😁

Hi this would be nice to have an arpeggiator in this unit as well as assignable Knobs (I cannot believe that there are two Knobs just to tweak EQ - what a waste really). This is a good demo of this new unit. The other ones on YT so far are subpar, at best. This one is much more in depth and shows more sounds being used. I am intrigued by this unit. I have the PA700 already and LOADS of other synths, including Korg, but this unit intrigues me as a bottom keyboard for the bands that I am in. I know that it does not have the functionality of the PA series, but the sounds seem fine enough to be used as a bottom live keyboard for the bands. Does this unit actually have an editable synth engine or are the PCM sounds non-editable? Is the sequencer a full 16-track affair with editing or is it an 8 track (style recording) and 8 tracks of real-time recording over the recorded style tracks? I am also thinking it does not have an Arpeggiator built in? This is not a deal-breaker for me. It is a great time to be alive as a keyboard/synth player :) I also have a question about the XE20, which would also make a great bottom keyboard in a band situation, even though it is more geared toward the consumer crowds. Could you test it with a USB MIDI Host device to see if it can talk with legacy MIDI gear (like older 5-pin MIDI synths)? The idea of the XE20 is a neat one, combining the engine of the EK50 with the piano engine of the B2. Thank you in advance for your reply. Grace, Harry

Hello! The sound engine is a stereo PCM style, with sounds from several 'heritage' Korg machines, including the M1. You can't load up voices, but you can load MIDI tracks for playback and then play along with onboard sounds. The Sequencer doesn't separate parts but will let you 'trigger' parts like verse, chorus etc but you can sequence them as normal. Hope this helps! 😎

Very good demo, thanks for taking the time, most reviews just scratch the surface. I think it's kind of an upscale "fun" keyboard, not a "professional" or "stage" instrument as is so laughingly suggested in a lot of promotional material. Without actual synthesizer capability, the sounds are nice...but boring. And having a host of "59 custom drum kits" and "melody" options is lovely but they all sound like a glorified metronome. Basically for someone taking piano lessons who wants to take their first steps into the digital keys world.

​@@dare2win215 Yes but the new fantoms are a series, and they get plenty of upgrades from the previous rendition every time, the new Fantom is a vastly different and improved synth over the previous models of Fantoms. This however, is a poor re release of a vastly outdated arranger workstation from the 90s, it sounds inferior to almost everything on the marker today and for the price one can always buy a used korg Krome or something more specialized like a yamaha EX5 or Alesis Fusion which are far more powerful instruments and overall better sounding instruments.

Hi GuitarGuitar and Kord i3 users, I have an idea to connect korg i3 (ver 2020 , only MIDI OUT) via MIDI with Roland synthesizer (MIDI IN). In this case : (How to configure/menu setup both instruments?) 1.Can i3 (MASTER) play sounds / instruments from Roland’s (SLAVE)? 2.Can Roland play/use sounds / instruments /styles from i3? 3.Can I apply/add /layer an arpeggiator from Roland to i3 sounds? 4. Maybe to get everything I wrote above should I connect both keyboards with USB ports ? One last question, how to prepare (for example based on a MIDI file) and next import styles into i3, are they styles compatible / compatible / similar to PAxxx - which of them ? Korg finna drop another flagship. I’ve noticed that with all the keyboard manufacturers. They drop a bunch of non flagship, unusual things. Like Yamaha with the MX series and Roland with those lights ass Juno’s, then Yamaha came with Montage, and Roland Broughtthe Fantom back. Korg is most def overdue for a new flagship besides kronos

In the last 30 years I've got Korg i4s, Roland E86, Yamaha PSR9000 for live exibitions, but I was searching for a light and essential keyboard because at the end I used less than 50% of the available functions ... therefore I purchased this Korg i3 MS and for now I'm satisfied... the light weight is a great feature from my personal point of view.
