Deep Purple were great in the studio but untouchable live. No band would want to follow them onstage. Even recently Peter Hook from New Order said in a TV interview that they were on at a festival after Purple’s set around 2012. He wasn’t worried until they started playing... he’d assumed due to their age they’d lost it. He was a big fan in the old days. Ironically Child in time is probably their best studio performance. NO ONE in that era 69/70 could play guitar like Ritchie and no one else could play that studio guitar solo (from Deep Purple in Rock) . I think it’s his best. When I heard that album as a 12 year old, I literally couldn’t get my head around the fact that music could sound like that.

@@azja6666 I don't think there's any point in comparing gods, because the point of being a god is to be incomparerable as well. At this point, it is rather about taste or feelings, what makes you like one guitarist better than another. For example, I was just about to type after seeing Jimi Hendrix mentioned, that in my opinion Jimmy Page is much more incredible and versatile than Blackmore, but then I realised that I can't be objectively able to decide.
@thetruthhurts6652
@thetruthhurts6652 4 жыл бұрын
Gabor Racz jr. You can’t compare styles because everyone has different tastes but you can compare other things. Hendrix was an inventor but there was many technically better than him. Page was amazing in the studio but live and/or soloing Blackmore was much better yet Page had the acoustic thing over Blackmore. Overall imo from 1969 to 1978 Blackmore was the best hard rock guitarist in the business.

*The band Deep Purple* with only one original member (Drums: Ian Paice) *is on it's current farewell tour.* Original guitarist & co-founder Richie Blackmore left the band to form Rainbow. Came back. Then left for good. Singer Ian Gillian & Bassist Roger Glover joined after original vocalist Rod Evans & original bassist Nick Simpter were fired. Keyboardist Jon Lord was the other co-founder member & stayed with Ian Paice through all the line-up changes until his death in 2012. This classic line-up of Blackmore, Lord, Paice, Gillian & Glover is called MACH II line-up. *Welcome to Deep Purple.*

I do believe Deep Purple could be considered the *first* symphonic metal band because... Jon Lord (keyboardist) arranged for the band to play a gig with the London Philharmonic Orchestra - including his own compositions. Also, you aren't doing yourself any favors to only listen to Deep Purple one day, for one song. They are part of the Unholy Trinity (along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin), widely considered to be the founders of metal music.

The 3 evils or Holy/Unholy Trinity as they were called. I even grew up with them, late 80s- early 90s: DP, BS, LZ. Zeppelin were my most favs as teen girl, but as I grew older I realised I was preffering D.P. and B.S. more and D.P. even more. Was it because Gillian had this ungodly vocals comparing to Plant and Ozzy? That Lord was divine and otherwordly the real lord of keyoards? That Richie was insanely genius changing riffs and improvising each solo again and again?That Pace and Clover were stellar and the band was so tied up together working as a Swiss clock so their live concerts seemed so far out of this world? Tastes change, you become more eclectic as you grow older and the real thing is naturally in the eye or the ear of the beholder.

Richie Blackmore even when live he is so clean ( not sloppy) compared to a lot of guitarists at his time ( even now) these guys are the best musicians live ( with few exceptions) now but now you know what the cherry on top sounds like if could play lol
