They broke up at the PEAK of their popularity. You can see the emotions of the band as they play their last show and the RAGE the drummer had with the singer who was destroying their dream.

Here is your X-Japan essentials: - Endless Rain live from the last life (best Ballad ever written) - Kurenai, their first single and best known song - Art of life (a 30minute progressive masterpiece) - Weekend (my personal favorite) - Rose of pain (big rock song) And please never do studio recordings - they sound a bit dated - only live shows. Also stick to their 80s & 90s performances.

Check Art Of Life, the chords progression is something I've never seen before in a rock/metal song. Maybe there's songs that I do not know wich have such complex chords progression and harmonics and I'm curious about it but when I saw the tab for Art Of Life I was blown away, I didn't know someone could write something like this in a rock band. I know you can find such things in jazz or classical but in rock nope. And it feels so natural that if you don't pay much attention you won't hear that it is so complex wich I think is a good thing. Only the piano solo is IMO too long and less interestng than the rest of the song but now I'm used to it and I spend a good moment listen to it. And you should check it live because it's even more incredible. I'm not the first writing about Art Of Life in the comment so you must know that the live version is almost 40 minute but the piano solo is very very long...

I think Weekend is a geat song, from ballads, I would choose Unfinished over Endless Rain, though Endless Rain is usually the stock choice for reactions. I'd realy love to see a musician react to their early demo titled Endless Dream, you can find it on youtube, it's a very early ballad that Endless Rain was modeled after but I find it so much more beautiful in its rawness, with Toshi's yet unrefined, crystal clear vocals. That was way before Hide joined the band as lead guitarist. It's an awesome song with great riffs, although Hide himself is known for his magical guitar riffs, too :) (the guy with the pink hair)

Kurenai is THE rock Anthem of Japan. X Japan sold-out the Tokyo Dome 18X, capacity 55,000. Gene Simmons said that if they had been a Western Band, they would have been one of the biggest bands!! They were scheduled to be the first Japanese band to play Wembley Arena, but they fell apart before it happened. Yoshiki, drums, primary song writer is the Rock Idol in Japan. Any Japanese Rock/Metal that he acknowledges is an instant star. Note; the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley Arena was Babymetal, it was an arena show of which they have only done twice outside of Japan!! Nemophila has a great cover of Kurenai, well worth reacting to. 2 Suggestions; "X" - fast hard rock and "Weekend" - a must, Hard Rock at its best.
@timgove53372 жыл бұрын
Great choice, my fav XJapan clip. interesting question about the click track. i'd bet they used one? drummer/songwriter/pianist/leader Yoshiki seems likely to be a control freak. but also superb musicians... noticed that they slowed down when drums stopped and let audience sing. yet synth strings piped in were probably a track, leading me to think the slowdown was an orchestrated moment! amazing control either way, as you know, tracks present their own problems, not only just as difficult to play, but less room for error, thus more difficult imho! Some wonder why there's so much apparent talent in Japan. Here's a perfect example. Everyone loves this band / song. This boy (8 i think?!) uses the yellow w/ hearts bcRich guitar that Hidesan (mr Hide, pronouce He day) used for this "last live" (their farewell show before his death, broke up due to singer's cult involvement. fascinating recent XJapan documentary, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmetnmude72Vmas ), his sister, the boss on bass, is only 5 here! (love the end where she directs them to do it, "just one more time!") They did a collaboration with Gacharic Spin (the band behind Unlucky Morpheus's Fuki in the project Doll$Boxx); the (new) drummer and Guitar Tomozo joined with the siblings from RoiLoiRo band for this one-off "MiniMini Band". Not the best recording, tho reactable for what it is, a studio jam between lifer fulltime pros, and some elementary school kids. Yes they start early, yes they work hard, but the scene is so supportive... These kids got onstage at Takayoshi Ohmura's birthday concert (babymetal guitarist, always has Gacharic Spin host), and did a tv show with the tv host on keys, and other kids as drummer & singer. And RoiLoiRo does lots of covers, but sing on their own originals; their drummer did a youtube cover of GS's Mindset only days after it came out! So ya, check MiniMini Band covering XJapan's Kurenai kzbin.info/www/bejne/q56kamykf69smMk [edit: ok, without captions, might as well jump halfway in to about 1:55 to just see the jam.] And support music education!!! Have you seen Doll$Boxx or Gacharic Spin? feel like i might've seen that, can't remember, searches coming up empty. Try Gacharic Spin Mindset kzbin.info/www/bejne/h56vYYlsa5yEsKs and maybe RoiLoiRo's drummer(7?) covering it kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqXEZYmgg92la9E
