Just heard the absolutely horrible, devastating news that our beloved Guitar Genius Eddie Van Halen has passed. We can't contain our tears, such an incredible Artist. Well said. If you can put on something like "I'm the one" and still think Eddie's spirit is gone, it's prob your spirit that's gone. Btw, spirits often attach themselves to their photographs & possessions. Naitve Americsns understood this, that's why they never allowed their picture to be taken. Ed's ENTIRE heart & soul is forever imprinted on Van Halen music. Whether you're listening to the tracks or playing it on a guitar, Ed's spirit is there with you. (Love You Ed! In late '77 we saw Black Sabbath and the opening act was Van Halen. Eddie's playing just knocked me over, it was like an alien had landed. When Sabbath came on, the audience was not having any of Ozzy's drunk shenanigans and piled the chairs in front of the stage and walked off. I ran home and got the first record and my life has never been the same. Eddie made all of the guitarists of the day rethink their approach to guitar playing and the race was on. NO guitar player since then has done half as much for the instrument. And now just one day later, he's gone. RIP
@robpoma38744 жыл бұрын
I also saw them open for Black Sabbath at The Bayfront Center in St Petersburg, FL. . Van Halen blew the roof off the place, just incredible. Black Sabbath came out and was the worst band I've ever seen. They were tuning their guitars during the show for like 20 minutes. Polar opposites. RIP EVH.

Eddie's rhythm playing and specially his PHRASING AND SWING are absolutely unmatched when you compare him to his contemporaries. I mean, when you hear a solo like the one one Bottom's Up, it's clear he focused on his phrasing as much as the flashy technical stuff when he was wood shedding. Love Ed.

I remember back in the day ALL musicians be it classical, jazzers, country players taking notice. No one could do what he was doing.

Did you seriously post this just before his passing? Wow very fitting and amazing tribute as others have said. RIP EVH, I have always loved guitar because of you, and your tone is thing of legends!

How different Music would've been if Alex hadn't arrived home early that "infamous" day and started playing on Eddie's drum kit! : )

I haven't followed Van Halen closely enough to know the story and I can't find it now searching for it. Mind sharing?

And just remember kid's, this guy was doing this 40 years ago... put that in your head and get smoked !!!!!!! My brother put a set of headphones on me in 1978, and when Eddie Van Halen came in after the intro to " Runnin with the Devil " I got goosebumps, and adrenaline started racing through my veins. I wanted to become a singer, like He made that guitar sing . My condolences to the world for their loss, including the ones that don't even know it.
