I love how Jack's virtuosity with the guitar is balanced by his clear and present understanding of what can be used in each moment, and his ability to break it down to straightforward explanations! Even the rhythmic singing phrases at the start is enough for a semester of study, without involving triads or pentatonics!

JACK! What you said at 15:10 about being able to see intervals like the third but in relation to a higher/lower pitched root.. I just realized I actually never ''visualized'' that and I definitely see how important that is! I do play those notes already when improvising, but not because I think of them as what each of them actually are precisely, but more because I know the sound and I know it's part of the scale... but I'm not always (if ever) ''aware'' of what interval it actually is while i'm playing. If you'd ask me to find it, I would be able to relatively quickly, but it would take me at least a few seconds because I would have to first find the root from an octave below/above and then I'd know where the third is. This masterclass is BRILLIANT, and you're such a good teacher! Every single time I watch one of your guitar lesson videos, I find at least one particular point that I always knew was important but always neglected for some reasons.. and everytime it inspires me to work on that. When you're a bit depressed guitar-wise and struggling with some stuff, this kind of video is like a MASSIVE oxygen tank. I'm definitely considering subscribing to MUSICBRO and see where it leads me!

Idk why this video out of the thousands I've watched trying to sound more musical and not so "mechanical (from all the theory bs)" but the beginning where you just used claps and noise really got through to me. I believe i just had the biggest breakthrough I'll ever have, somehow the scales and patterns just became more of a second or third thought and trying to be melodic is now the only thing I'm focused on and... wow... I can't believe it... 😂😂

Hey Jack! I’ve got a question :) When you are improvising, do you think in terms of intervallic functions, or do you think of actual chord names? Do non-diatonic chords give you a brand new set of intervals or do you alter your parent scale to fit the newly introduced chord? (I know it’s the same set of notes I’m curious about the visualization behind it) Thanks again for everything you do for this community! Best channel on here AND you’re a good teacher 😉
