The string section part of this song is one of the most awesome guitar riffs ever. The entire arrangement in the song, with the drums and bass, is one of my all time favorite parts of any rock song.

I agree completely! It makes you stop whatever you're doing and just jam the crap out of it! Best arrangement ever,

I'm very happy that I chose your path to a song I really like. I started from scratch. I put in some effort and slowly got to the third part. I am very grateful to you. I wish you much success in the future.

Great lesson & thank you very very much. So much going on in this section of the song that just makes me appreciate John Sykes so much more. By the way, this is also a great lick to practice against for speed practice and warm up as well. Many thanks again Sir.

Really loving your lessons. Don’t know if you realise but that ‘string’ section you refer to was entirely played guitar anyway. Sykes just used an effect to cut the attack of the notes.

The 'string' section is so much easier to play higher up the neck at the 7th fret

I just have a question, if anyone can answer. The interlude chords... they're obviously still chords in the key of E, right? Embellished, of course. And do they really play the string section with the bow of the violin like in the video? :P :D
@andryradchenko7304
@andryradchenko7304 6 жыл бұрын
No, but to be serious, it is played with left-hand hamer-ons. Right hand adjusts the volume knob to skip the attack sound and once it's done you've got the cello-like sound. Also you gotta have your delay pedal on so every other note you gonna get comes from your delay. Kind of [left hand hammer-on]->[right hand volume up]->[the second note comes from the delay]->[volume down] for any 2 notes .

How to play this strony secrion with bow like in original?
@kkadnar
@kkadnar 5 жыл бұрын
Actually i'm pretty sure the string section in the original was played by Don Airey on keys. The bow made for a good look in the video though.
@MikeC-cm7pc
@MikeC-cm7pc 3 жыл бұрын
you would need a cello, in the studio Sykes used a real Cello not a bow and electric guitar like you see in the video

This has to be one of the top ten guitar songs ever written,wow so much going on,and to write this wow it is a masterpiece it really is,between john sykes and rahndy roads(hope I've spelled his name proper?) There guitar work is just out this world,pure class 80s were the best and music was the best too,even 90s was good for grunge then 2000s music was terrible all this RnB RAP shite chart music all this so called talent haha pathetic!! Talent was in the 80s 90s music now days 2022 is terrible no talent about it just pure utter nonsense!!!

70s,80s were best with a few gems in 90s but around 2000 they discovered they could trot out essentially the same songs for profit and get rid of songwriters.
