When Steve's talking I'm always in awe. I never get tired of listening to him; I find everything he says resonates with me.The things he says about negativity is so true and I try to keep away from that even though it's not always easy; and in those moments I will listen to Steve and it always help, and that voice is so warm; who wouldn't feel better :-D

Sometimes I wonder: I prefer to listen Steve's music or Steve himself? :) He's like a wise philosopher of life and support for starting guitarists.

Great interviewer, he actually let Steve talk!!!! He even asked a few pertinent follow up questions; so he was listening to Steve as well. Most interviewers seem to want to do most of the talking, and when the interviewee is talking they don't listen and therefore don't hear the requirement for the obvious follow up question. They are only thinking about what they want to say next. Great interviewer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I SO, identify with Steve... Not in the spiritual sense but, the creative sense.. As an amateur guitarist, I under-estimate myself, and over-achieve... I'm always happy with what I accomplish.. You have to be real to be fulfilled.. I've always seen this in Steve Vai... He's been an inspiration and, I don't sound much like him except for my rendition of his works... But they are not natural, My natural sound is mine... And every musician should be defined by their own works... Not Covers..

Damn! What he says there at around 23 is so true! Just sitting quiet and strumming a chord at random, I do hear several ways to play a melody over it! Now, whether I do have the skills to write that melody down, or develop it into a song, that is another story, but it definitely is there!

I have mixed feelings about Vai as a guitarist, some of his stuff I like, but a lot of his stuff I find awfull. But as a philosopher I rate him among the best, just pure poetry. Cheers

+46jokers I agree with the 2nd sentence, but as to the first - don't you think it concerns compositions of any guitarist, rock group, composer also classic as Mozart, eg. I love some opuses of Mozart, for some I am ambivalent and few I don't like?

Steve always looked younger than he was, but here he (IMO) looks very tired. May be too many work (we know he is very hard-working, not like typical celebrities hedonists), may be too many concerts/tours - he very likes it as he said many times? Steve take care of your health - we need your music and you, your wise interviews:) BTW: please imagine Bi..er or some other famous "artists'/celebrities talking abou quantum physics... !
