Hello Claus, came across one of your videos last night and thought it was great (I signed up for the free lesson - though nothing is free...Thank you). I watched this video this morning and think it's great also. I ordered the Solo Apprentice's Course and I'm looking forward to learning from you! Take care.

I've seen lessons on playing with what you know already, but this video is an eye opener. I knew you were playing that same lick, but it sounded so different and like you were not playing that lick lol😅. Great details about focusing on the rhythm as well. I need to stop learning new licks😉😅

Once again with feeling! Lol, Sounds great bud. This is why Neil Young sounds so good soloing on 1 string! Lol!! So much better than monotone scales played fast! Well said my friend, all in the rhythm and the feeling of the player, Jimmy Page and David Gilmore are another couple good examples of amazing musician's that solo with so much rhythm and feeling It gives me goosebumps to listen to them play, they can all play fast scales and shred if and when, but they play what the music calls for and it's amazing...

Hey Claus that's funny because I realized the same freaking thing this morning as I was practicing the Hey Joe Solo before work, for our band. I was thinking ... damn this solo is so easy but I can't play it with him. Then I realized the rhythm thing in Jimis Playing! :-D Incredible lesson Claus!!

Initially you think pfft yeah right. But If you want a perfect example look at BB king, he often played the same notes in the same position and claus perfectly explains this here. I need to put my ego aside and take what claus said to heart here and i will practice this. Thanks claus you're a fantastic teacher.

Thank you for outlining something that I've been bashing my head in with I have to get a Looper pedal because that's the only way I can really see how my ideas will work within a chord progression. Claus you're amazing keep up the good work. I have one question... what Looper pedal do you use in the video, please?

@Claus - Content suggestion for another video: First of all - Great video, as always! - The following topic rather belongs to another video but I guess you don't read the old comments much, so here's my question: How do you get the palm muting right which you describe in you alternatve picking videos. When I place my pisiform bone at the low E-Sting and I try to play on the G-Sting or higher, either there is no palm muting or I have to bend my hand towards the strings that my picking messes up (results in a very different way of picking). Could you maybe make a close-up video about this topic? :)

Hey Claus! Great content as always! One question: how do I know if I am an intermediate or advanced player? How do I measure my own skills?
@jakenogard96676 жыл бұрын
Well said. It sounds more musical when you play just blues scales or pentatonic scales than those players try to shred and not as clean as Paul Gilbert fast picking then it sounds like beginner😁😬😜

That's how I write new riff all that time...I was actaully trying to get my drummer to play a steady groove..but I just play different chakka...chkaka chakaa...just muting the a min chord...ect It works in the same way with drumming...I'd play flems .ghost note..ect right before the pulse or right after..it'll sound like a different groove but he didnt know how I can go from country into dark metal.. I simply shifted a note up or down...closer to the root or away from it. but I always return to the root...or main riff....Then off I go to a slightly different note...play a Maj6 instead of a b6 over the A min chord...with a b2 or Maj2.lol or Maj3 with b7...and the tritone..with b2 or maj2. It's actually simple....I just shuffling the deck.lmao But I stack it back the basic minor. But I practice dong that in ONE Position ( at first)...then up the octive. or as the root on A and G string or...on E and D Just it's still the same sort of riff...just on different places of the neck. But it's alway done in one octive at a time... Then i just practice doing the same riff over the the I, IV, V chords. exactly the same riff over three different tone center.

I've seen a few of your videos and like them a lot. But sometimes you references other videos without adding a link in the description or a video link directly like an extra layer in the video. I really hope you can take a look at this, as it would be much easier to get a good grasp on what you are trying to teach when we actually can dig deeper into what you are teaching and watch to videos that is required to getting the fundamentals techniques down.
