I LOVE THIS! I'm 70, just started playing 6 months ago and love rhythm. This video is definitely going to be part of my weekly practice rotation. Thank you!

Great teaching. It's not just about how much you know that makes you a great teacher, but how well you can teach :)

Have to admit -- those four words of one, two, three, and four syllables make a really effective way to teach rhythm timing of the quarters, eighths, triplets, and sixteenths. Well done!

Well , you only have to look at Guitar George, he knows all the chords , but he’s strictly rhythm, he doesn’t want to make it cry or sing ,, 👍👍🤠🎸

And to think that he does it all on an old guitar when he gets up under the lights to play his thing. Helluva musician that Guitar George. The Sultans of Swing are lucky to have him.

I love just playing the rhythm sitting beneath the lead, grooving with the bass and drums.

Great lesson and an important one. YEARS AGO I was in a band with a guitar player friend of mine. It was a metal band. He was pretty good at leads but couldn't play rhythm too well and it hurt the songs. Even his solos kinda lacked rhythm. His rhythm was choppy and forced. I was always a natural. I love rhythm.

Thanks for the Kick drum mute guitar strum technique mimicking the drum beats rhythm. By adding the dynamics it sure spice up the way we play the top and bottom 3 strings. The use of word syllable time count metronome demo is interesting too for me.

Great lesson Eddie! Rhythm is also easier to play and sing. Ever notice Eric C, David G, Joe B, when they are singing? They play the rhythm part while doing the vocals.

When I see a crowd dance to a guitar solo, then I'll say rhythm guitar isn't more important.

I've been " playing" now for 4 years and am still so bad at this . I wish I could afford your course Eddie . I've tried in person lessons and online lessons with people who said that they never had anyone quit because they couldn't do it, then they met me. Maybe I'm unteachable

lol, not true. I was in the same mind, 72 now and only recently realized that it’s all in the mind. Change your mind, you can do it. It’s as sime as that. Then you will find your groove.

Anyone familiar with Nancy Wilson (Heart), who prefers to play rhythm guitar, would never view this as a less important aspect of playing.
@OSOForjas2 күн бұрын
Cara, só o que importa é o que o próprio músico gosta de fazer. Eu curto muito mais a guitarra rítmica justamente por ela ser poderosa e discreta ao mesmo tempo.

No one would call Maclom Young ordinary rhythm guitar is the back bone of good song or band.

Ironically the majority of solo guitarists are boring as hell themselves with their constant arpeggio shredding with no phrasing whatsoever

I’ll be honest I’m mostly playing lead guitar because playing rhythm guitar well is imo more complicated.I can play rock and blues rhythms but without a pic it’s not gonna work for me lol.

I seem to remember some little known rhythm guitarist that actually did pretty well for himself. Let's see, IIRC his name is Pete Townshend, LOL. Oh, and some 'other guy' named Eddie Van Halen who stated quite emphatically that MOST of guitar playing is rhythm guitar. Seems playing rhythm guitar well IS important...
@patrickrowe6745Күн бұрын
Don’t agree although my playing of lead guitar put my rhythm guitar into a different elevated league. As a lead guitarist, I now hear lead Melodie’s while playing rhythm

Just pick your own favorite four words that have one, two, three, and four syllables and apply them. You don't have to use his. And yes, it is probably made up. But what he is doing is making it easier to understand how to apply different rhythms for those that have difficulty doing it.
