I'm not 100% sure i understand why the A major pentatonic works when the song is in A minor. Is it bc A major is equivalent to f# minor which is the submediant of A minor? But isnt F major the submediant? Im confused...

I am big on alternate picking as well but James Hetfield from Metallica almost exclusively only down picks and has made his own famous style from it. He is an underrated rhythm guitar player

Me personally? I write my own songs in a midi maker and then practice playing those songs on guitar. I HIGHLY recommend it considering that I only starting learning guitar very recently and now I'm already practicing legatto.

So the A maj pentatonic is also essentially the F# minor pentatonic? (bar the missing F# root note)
@OnwardAndEdward19 сағат бұрын
Yes! F# minor is the relative minor to A Major

This video truly sparked one of those lightbulb moments for me! Thank you for this clear, concise, and comprehensive explanation of the the CAGED System, how it ties in with the overall fretboard layout, and how to navigate through it over chord progressions! I really appreciate your teaching style and approach. You've truly unlocked my mind when it comes to practicing and soloing. Can't thank you enough for sharing!

You can turn it around by thinking of the scale in its six scale degree. Or natural minor of C major.

Nice work lad. Recently found your vids and find most all worth watching. Been playin for 30+ years. Still suck too. Fun to find a genuine communicator trying to teach thru connection like you seem to do with high proficiency. Plus you’ve got that conspiratorial spark in your eye, someone who loves what they do and willing spread the love. Good on ya. Keep up the good work.

So if you wanted to change key, could you just move your boxes up/down the fret board accordingly? Example: moving the shape down one fret to get into the key of F
