CRAZY Guitar Solo Licks (Throw Music Theory Away!)
Have you ever heard one of those crazy repetitive guitar licks guitarists like Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Dimebag Darrel, and Randy Rhoads play?...
These licks are unforgettable and the strange part is that these guitarists completely throw music theory out the window...
In this guitar solo lick lesson, I break down what these rock legends do to make sure their guitar solos are powerful & more memorable than ever.
So what are these guitar legends actually doing?
They're taking a simple guitar lick, turning that guitar lick into a pattern, and repeating that pattern over-n-over again until they have one crazy guitar solo lick that captures their audience.
These licks build massive tension. And this is what makes these guitar licks so damn unforgettable.
And although these guitar solos sound INSANE, they're very easy to replicate. Plus you'll INSTANTLY be able to come up with your own repetitive guitar licks on the fly...
So throw your music theory out the window, experiment with your own guitar solo licks.
Just repeat those guitar licks again and again and create your own unforgettable guitar solos.
The more you play around with this, the more you'll start to get it.

Great explanation of landing on “hero notes” after complete musical gibberish. Eddie Van Halen used to call it, “Falling down the stairs and landing on your feet.” I spent years playing proper scales and improvising over them but nothing I played sounded even remotely like what Eddie was playing. So on an old cassette player, I played and rewound over and over, a few Eddie passages until I successfully wrote the tablature for them. The first note was in key, then a bunch of repeated musical criminality, then ending in notes in key again. I was blown away that the “best rock guitarist in the world” was actually doing this! That’s when I discovered music theory was limiting me and I could get away with anything at high speed as long as I started right and ended right. So cool that there are guys like you actually teaching this now. Us old guys had to figure it out the hard way.

I do not recommend anybody looking for becoming a musician "throw music theory away"...it's really important to know where every pattern you play is coming from theory wise and harmony wise...repeating patterns (after you know where they came from) is just one more thing related to mastering the mechanics of it on a musical instrument... keep on rockin

Happy Landings! Lol, how about that ending? I love the way you are willing to leave oopsies like that in the finished product. Sorry I didn't get to say Hi in person when you were in Nashville. Last year was a real pain in the ass for us. If you ever come back I will definitely look you up. Maybe I can show you around some of the more Nashvilly things in town. Peace and PROSIT!

Wow, Charlie. I paid for some of your courses and joined your Guitar Mastery Method site because I wanted to learn about playing electric guitar. I already belong to a site that focuses on acoustic guitar. Watching this video makes me believe you are the right person to learn electric guitar from. You are simply crazy good. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Thanks again GMM . Some songs I've found out you really need to open to odd notes especially on your high E and B strings . Theory just simply doesn't apply . Especially when most rock , alternative are almost always played G,A,E,D most of which is alternating between A,E, pentonic .

Thank you Charlie. I agree that we may break the rule sometime, however, we should know the rules first and when to break them in our advantages. For early beginner, let's start with the rules, scales, chords, arpegio, at least we know them, then we should not allow them to limit our creativities when the opportunity present it self. Cheers from Indonesia.
