Ah Jeez...Another budget brand 🙂🙂 it's like they pop up every week now... I really do not need another LP Junior DC at all... I have several Gibsons, Epiphones, Vintage ( Wilkinson ) and other brands...But at this price I can't resist... That's how I ended up having 168 guitars in my collection 😄😄 While some of them are old and valuable ( some recent ones too ) 80% of my guitars cost below $200... I guess I'll do the usual : Shielding, 50's wiring, Sprague Orange Drop capacitor...Maybe even locking tuners... Thankfully I have a big house and a wife that keeps encouraging me to buy more guitars... I sometimes think she's more obsessed than me and she can't play the guitar to save her life... Great review as ever...Your videos are a joy to watch...

Looks like a very good deal to me. Set-neck and simple electronics is a big win. I have a Gibson SG jr with a single P-90 and I love the simplicity of it. It teaches you to use the volume and tone controls for different sounds rather than just hitting switches and pedals.

And where you strum, a huge, huge range of sounds there - you can go from strat to lp from strumming/playing near the bridge to the neck.

I just bought one of each to try, the DC and the revenge (explorer style). I was very impressed with them both, setup was good, frets are good, shipping was within a day, very good packaging so no issue during shipping. I ordered the light blue DC and the green revenge. I have expensive guitars (Fender, Gibson, PRS etc) but I like these less expensive brands for just playing around with and don't have to worry about treating it like a princess guitar. Neither of mine had any dead spots on neck but will be changing strings to my normal brand and sizes.

I bought one in early April just like this. Changed the strings and treated the fretboard. The string height at the nut was dead on according to my strobe tuner. After playing the guitar constantly for a week I decided to purchase some P90 pickup spacers to raise the height of the pickup which I thought was too low. IMO it added the P90 'growl' to the tone !!

I have the previous white version which is like a light yellow. I have a few observations, P90 has a low DC reading 5.5kohms or so, pots are full size but measure 230K, frets are rounded on the ends but mine has a few high frets, and I mean high to the point of choke. The neck is full but not a C, it is a full V profile meaning not a lot of shoulder. The nut width is 43mm but the nut string spacing is narrow, there is room on both sides for wider spacing more in the Gibson style. For the price this is a nice guitar, not a steal but a good deal.

I bought one about 3 weeks ago unsure if I was going to like it, but with the coupon code and free Prime shipping thought I would give it a try as I loved the look and ordered a pink one. First off I liked the shade in the picture and it looked as good or better after receiving it. No major defects and didn't notice any minor ones either, but I didn't search for any either, I'm not the type to get upset over a tiny dimple in some obscure place no one looks at. .All I did was tune it and play and was surprised how much I liked it, one of my favorite budget guitars, I like it so much I have been watching to see if West Creek releases any new models. Playing it sounded good and felt comfortable, I also like the weight being light, I'm getting to old for my 10.2 lb. Harley Benton.

Love mine, put a Dylan Talks Tone Dogeared P-90 (world's best!) in it and it sounds killer. The clarity of Dylan's pickups is unmatched.

Hi Max, thanks for yet another great video. I’m gonna suggest that we all cease using the term “oil the fretboard” as some brand new buyers might not be players and not understand it’s not real oil we use. I suggest “fretboard treatment” or “fretboard fluid” so we would say use some treatment on the fretboard. That way it’s clear that something specific is needed. Keep up the interesting finds.

Some people say not having a neck pickup let’s the string ring more because the magnets aren’t pulling on the strings as much. Maybe that’s why it’s resonating more than the usual electric guitar.

Simple, 'no-nonsense', guitars like these are worth their weight in gold if they have tuning stability, good intonation, nice action and a decent set of pickups. regardless of aesthetics, what more could you ask for? Frets can be massaged.

I had a Univox from the late 70s that was pretty much the same design - Les Paul Jr. double cutaway. It was surprisingly good, it was all stock except for a badass bridge in the same wraparound style.

The Explorer/Destroyer II-ish model caught my eye a couple of weeks ago, so this review is certainly of interest as far as quality goes. It's going to be a while before I'd be able to purchase a new guitar, so I'll keep an eye on the channel in case you do review the other model.

I got the red one and it's fantastic. Definitely has the Destroyer design cues with the notch cut out where the back strap button goes, the position of the control knobs that run parallel to the bottom and position of the pickup selector.

I really like the DC Les Paul and the DC Melody Maker. This Westcreek is a bit of a hybrid of both (plus an almost Tele style control plate). I got this guitar used at Music Go Round for $120.00. There is only one MINOR negative I can give. Mine is 6 1/2 pounds, which is great, the lighter the better, BUT it's slightly neck heavy. A thick sueded strap, or one of the Zero gravity type straps will correct the situation. Other than that it easily gets 5 stars with Great action and playability. A sinle Bridge P90 kicks ass

I bought a Les Paul style from West Creek, I swapped the Humbuckers to Wilkinson Humbuckers and a set of strings, the guitar sounds amazing, it stays in Tune, didn’t want to spend thousands yet on a electric guitar until I got better, I’m transitioning from acoustic, so the westcreek is going to be my practice guitar for now..

Good looking guitar and great review as usual Max. I'll never understand why companies that put 3x3 head stocks on their guitars don't situate the tuners so the strings don't have so much of a break, (like for instance a PRS or a Danelectro head stock), it's not like it would cost extra to reposition the top tuners a little farther inward.

I wonder the same. I guess it could be for two reaso: PRS might have some kind of intellectual property on it and they don't want an expensive lawsuit, or, it leaves less space for the logo. Or perhaps factories do charge an extra for modifications like that.

Yeah I've talked to a couple of my friends that work in the industry and the cost to manufacture long shift tuners for 4 of the six or 2 of six isn't worth it for a company or two. Now if many of the 3 and 3 style guitar brands started designing headstock that way it would most likely change things but until then. 😮

I have been dying for an LP Jr type guitar that doesn’t cost an arm & leg. I thought about the Harley Benton, but people have said that it doesn’t really sound like a P90 Jr. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pink or baby blue JR like this brand offers. They look incredible!

BUT I wish you would mention the neck scale, i.e. 24.5 inch les paul type VS 25.5 inch Fender Strat type when you review a guitar. I think the DC is really the way to go whether you're a beginner or a pro , you really don't know what you're missing out on . My first guitar body was a double cutaway , since then I've been playing lots of other body styles like telle and strat but easy access to all your frets is always a good thing and it takes me back to when I began and what I hoped to accomplish then 🎸P.S. just wish they had a red one like that lol 👍✌️

It depends on if you're willing to put the time and money into the beast, personally I would scrap everything except the body, find different necks that are more suitable, IE one maple FB one Pau Fero, or something along those lines.

gibson has increased the price of an average les paul by 300€, you can buy two of these guitars just or the money you would have to spend more on a new les paul, just mindblowing but i really wonder how its still possible to build such super low budget guitars like a decent 80€ donner strat for example and still make money on that especially when its sold over amazon with additional costs, a bit suspicious imo, cheers🎸🎸

They make a Flying V that I’m eyeballing for 300. The real question is do you go with the relative new comer guitar or the established big name brand. You can score a LP jr for about the same money as the WC. 🤔 Having said that I own a firefly 335 and love it. Decisions decisions.

For me ...... Check one : Resonance. (more=better) Check two : Neck Strength , and true ? (bend it forward and back) Check three : feel Good , play Good ? Little things can be messed with

I have alot of fireflys and thiese west creek are as good if not better. Have the west creek revenge( destroyer) and the racer(sg) both are great! And cheaper and a heck of alot easier to return uf there was a issue. Just got a firefly xp, but came with a broken off headstock. 1st issue like that with a firefly though. They all need to pack better.

I love the idea of this guitar, the look of this guitar and the price of this guitar, but that is the least sweet sounding P90 I’ve heard maybe ever. So I would have to budget in a Lollar P90 or a DiMarzio SuperDistortion in the P90 config if I were to buy one. (yes of course I know that those are two very different pickups, just two I happen to like.)
